USB In Console

I could probably figure this out on my own, but figure I will ask before I do. Does the USB inside the console connect to the infotainment, or is it just a charging port?

It connects for Android auto at least, I use mine to house a wireless Android auto dongle.

Just make sure you use a quality USB cable when using the center console. Some people have reported lagging responses or connect issues with the center console port vs. the center stack dash USB module. .

My 21 allows me to use it for CarPlay for about 3 or 4 minutes before it starts acting a fool. I just gave up using it, tried telling the dealer they said “they couldn’t duplicate it”. I only use OEM cables, mostly new too.

I use the three foot cables from Anker that are designed for a lot of use. They work great, but eventually wear enough they start to have issues. The current cable has been in use for well over a year. Even though it connects and works, I'm starting to get the occasional Device not Supported message pop up on the Uconnect screen.

For Android Auto I have seen issues if the radio software is not the newest.

Make sure you updated you radio software....

how do we do this?

I have the same problem after i upgraded to iphone 15 im having connectivity issues. It was fine for android then I went Iphone but it had lightening and now I have the usb c again. But now evey 5 or 6 uses it wont connect, and then it has a problem going wireless. Hate the fact we dont have car play wireless built into these.
