My 16 year old takes her test for her driver’s license next week. She was afraid to ask to drive it. I got tired of waiting and had her drive it tonight. She loved it! Now she is asking how it can haul kayaks for a trip to the lake with her friends. What have I done?

My daughter just sold her JEEP to buy her first house, it was the love of her life.
I know she will be asking to drive mine all summer long

Morgan JEEP.jpg
A good dad would have told her not to do it and wait on the house ?. Or for those big ol’ softies you could have even bought it from her just to hold onto so when she brought up missing it you could give it back to her. #dadoftheyear

My poor 10 year old. He's been saying for a year now he wants the JT when the time comes. Fast forward to last week, wife brought home a Hydro Blue JLU. Now he's conflicted on which he intends to commandeer.

My 17 year old daughter drives my 2012 JKUR on 35s with 3.5 lift, my 25 year old daughter drives here 2018 JLU Sport I helped her buy (she paid I negotiated price) they both learned on my 1984 Scrambler 4 speed. I now have the JTRD to drive and my 8yr old son has his eye on it when he is old enough to drive.

Jeep Contagion...The new pandemic. That’s the sense I’m feeling reading this.

Had the doors off last week and took my son (27 year old) for a drive. He laughed more on that ride than I seen him laugh in all his years. The next day I took my son-in-law for a drive... Never heard him squeal like that before! He had to take selfie’s and videos on most of the drive... I then took my 9 month pregnant daughter for a drive... she commented “do you always get stared at like this all the time?” Lots of ?? and peace signs ✌? and a group of teens in a car leaning out to yell and whistle.... made her giggle. “Yup, this happens a lot” I said. I took her home and she said to her husband, “you need to trade in the Ford dear”.

I was thinking the same. I hope if my kids are ever in that position that I have the financial liquidity to buy it from them and either sell it back once they can afford it, or get it back for free when I die lol. I totally understand not being able to though.

Im a huge promoter of teaching kids Manual. I have this thought that if one hand is on the wheel and the other on the shifter there’s not one one available to be on the phone ??‍♂

Cant sight the source, but I read a while back that the accident rate in a manual was like 20% of that in an auto. So my kid's car is a little 5 speed. Only time I dont see her messing with her phone is while she is driving it.

When the F150 my daughter was driving was totaled (she was rear-ended) it gave me an excuse to get the Gladiator. But the question was then what to do with the JLUR Wrangler. My daughter solved that - she's adopted it and is helping make the payments. Her boyfriend has an old JK Sport.

I know it's a JL but thought the picture was appropriate for the thread. RAM Off Road Park in CO Springs. 16 year old loved being behind the wheel and doing the trails.

UUUUUMMMMMM........ YEAH........

So this picture is an example of how your story is going to end. Trust me I know! My 16 yr old son drives the 2018 Wrangler on the right, and my 21 yr old drives the gator, front left.

And it gets worse.... Since this picture is a few months old, all four now have the mopar 2" lift on them.

Time to take a second mortgage to support the Jeep habit!
