I'm 56, and my wife says I'm retiring at 62. The problem is that our house won't be paid off until 2035, so I figure I've got 10 years left. (Unless we hit the lottery.) I also wish my commute was longer. Eight miles each way is too short. I left a job making a considerable amount more because my commute was 70 miles each way. I wish I'd found something around 20 miles.
I turn 56 this month. House, Jeeps are all paid off. New job much less stress or physical exertion, with promotional opportunities within the next year to 18 months. The extra years past 62 would be to have extra money for world travels. I plan to keep my JT as long as I can, as they stopped making the manual version last year.

A quick trip to the palm tree store, originally picked out the 2 in the truck, then wife decided the others were much prettier, and 3x expensive. Hauled the new ones home, and currently digging massive holes to plant them. This is where house/work/truck ibuprofen comes in handy. 😭

Been doing a lot of home improvement projects lately so the Jeep’s been putting in the work at home vs work work. Hauled off renovation debris. Built a fit pit. Got the rental tractor stuck and pulled it out after I couldn’t dig it out. Towed it there and back too. I’ve rented that tractor a few times. Super handy. Home Depot rental. It’s only 6800 lbs on the trailer so it tows it fine.

Used the winch to recover a trampoline that the recent storms decided to relocate.

Looks great! I wish my pool area looked that good, but Palm trees don't grow in Tennessee. My parents had some around their pool though.

We're now living in perpetual hotter than Hades, South Texas, so any plant/tree that survives that heat is good, but the pool definitely helps to escape the heat. We're also finishing off a patio to expand on places to keep cool, but enjoy the sunshine, while not directly in it.

I’m preparing the front lawn for new sod. I pulled out a stump that didn’t come out with the tractor when I re-graded the lawn. Two years later, the roots were more rotten and I have a winch now so I got it.

24 pallets of sod later, and my yard is looking like a golf course. Just be sure to water it every day for the first month.

That’s a lot of sod! Nice lawn and home!

I’m only doing 1700 sq ft. The rest of the yard is established. I’m just doing one part that needs redone and it was temporarily winter rye that’s dying off. I’m just doing this part here that I just scalped. I’m spraying it with grass killer tomorrow.

Thanks. We got tired of trying to seed the lawn. It's very difficult with so many trees. I've got a video of the guys putting down the door last fall. I'm glad I didn't have to do it.

Yes! It is difficult because you have to keep the leaves off of it and also stay off of it. I feel that pain. lol. I have tall fescue out back that I seeded and overseed every fall. It’s nice back there because it’s pretty shaded, but it’s a real pain to seed with the trees.
