A week overdue, but just wrapped up the tint yesterday, washed her, and got some shots. AEV 2.5" Dualsport with Mickey Thompson Baja Legend EXP 315/70s. Love this rig.

That thing is beautiful! I really want a lift , but my dilemma is the cost and raising it to a point making it difficult to climb in. Watching a 2.5” with 37’s perform this last weekend give me itchy wallet syndrome. Not to mention the cost of a re-gear and new shoes. I really need to stay off the forum.😩🤨

A smaller lift that doesn't hit the 3" mark, and 35's does amazingly well - I would ask yourself if you really expect to hit Moab and the rubicon every weekend. It wasn't long ago that people took a stock CJ on the Rubicon and successfully traversed it. I also put on the AEV dual sport like @firemarshallvin and it, for me, is perfect. Just the right amount of lift without feeling excessive. And it looks/functions just fine with the stock 33's for now - and is also cheaper than other lift options.

I do believe that the AEV does look perfect with a 33”-35” tire combination. Moab, Rubicon are all on my list of destinations. I’ve been to Utah before and did fine but did the ole rub a dub, dub. I’m currently pricing out the AEV because I do tow with it, I may have to add bags to the rear For that purpose.

I probably will add bags at some point. But FWIW - my current load is just under 400 pounds over GVW - which is what the standard duty springs are rated for. This is without a front bumper/winch. So almost all the weight in the rear. With that, it still has a slight rake in the back. So I imagine once adding the bumper/winch up front, and the rear winch, it will have probably .5" of rake still. The ride is good - although a dual stage adjustable set of shocks would make it perfect. So depending on how heavy your trailer is and how much you carry in the bed on a regular basis, you might be ok without air springs. In the future I do plan on ditching the RTT, and some other heavier items, and pick up a pop-up A-frame style trailer. But at 4K lbs I think the SD springs will work just fine, and with removing some of the items currently weighting my JT down, it should be spot on. Unless you are SUPER heavy, I dont see a need for the HD springs. The Holstein 5100's seem to be valved for the SD springs, so I have a feeling with the HD springs, it would feel bouncy again like the factory rubicon setup.

Its amazing how poorly this property was maintained and how good a 100 yr old house can look with some tlc
