To quote Bruce Dern's line in Django Unchained:
"Sand. The man's got sand." (complimenting Django)
Either I smoked too much or need to smoke more because I'm confused... 😂

The hitch wasn't 3" from the ground, the trailer jack was. And it had surge brakes, tbh the JTW handled about the same as normal, granted the longer stopping at speed and longer acceleration times. But that's to be expected when towing vs not.

I drove big trucks, heavy equipment, and MANY delivery vehicles in all conditions. If we were going further or in an area with shitty roads/big speed bumps, I would have made them get a rental truck. Honestly, if the bed wasn't loaded down as much as it was, I wouldn't have worried at ALL about it. I used a 4" drop, might switch to a 2" drop in the future, or an adjustable drop hitch.

Also this is one of those "family" type friends. Don't have many, but I do a few.

Cruised around in Anza Borrego State Park.

This is why I say at least 2.5” shocks with reservoirs. That’s basically my back yard so that’s what I wheel in as well.

Good to get it now. Next weekend it’ll be parking room only out there in Azna Borrego.

Love that fish creek. The Offroad+ in 4H performs awesome on that curvy sand road.
I was doing about 70 at the end and didn’t see the pavement up ahead and almost jumped it to the other side but skidded to a sliding stop just before I got to it.

The Mojave is built for that stuff.
It does get crowded out there. Our last trip was on a Friday in April and we saw hardly anybody out there. We had a pretty good choice of camping spots.

Yep. It’s a full on event. Vendors, raffle, guided trail trains. The whole chicken dinner. I actually won a RubiCrawler at it a “few” years back. I wouldn’t go on my own to camp because it just gets too crazy at night. Not unless you go way deep out there.

I've yet to do a big "Jeep" event. But I've done several dualsport motorcycle events, not of this size though.
I like the motorcycle events cause it gives me a chance to ride new areas. They do organized rides, where the route and difficulty level is already thought out. You just show up pick a route and enjoy yourself. A few of the rides have been in areas with limited public access, so it would be hard normally to ride there.

But ya, too big can be crazy.

There’s different types of “bedliner” some of them spray on without all the stuff in them for a flatter finish. I personally would not want a textured finish for the reason you stated. Also that stuff inside the liner can break down and leave a pretty good mess. Gotta get wuality UV stable stuff.
I wouldn’t even trust the UV stable stuff …. at least, not on a newish truck / daily driver. If I had an old TJ that was specifically used for the trails (or what not), the LineX idea might be useful and a good idea.

….And then I think of the already …..not so stellar…. gas mileage on these things (JT’s). Carrying around that additional weight of the Linex?

I wonder what the trade-in value is on something that’s been LineX’d?
If the coating is older and looks ‘beat up’?
How do you refresh it? Add another layer and another 50lbs?

Sorry…went too far on that tangent…🙄😂

Added a K&N Filter, and wiped up a little drink spillage from the center cup holders :CWL:
