My mom has a Weber Genesis that we got her a few years back. I like it a lot as far as propane goes. I have had a the literal cheapest Pit Boss they make for the last 6 or 8 years now. Replaced a couple parts along the way. I find it works for me for grilling and smoking fine.

I also have a Blackstone we bought from a family member. Doesn't get used much but its a good fried rice machine, lol.

I have a basic Weber genesis from 2011, special ordered with cast iron grates. I hate stainless grates. I want marks.

Ohh yea. So good. Then you have nice long not shriveled strips of smoked bacon.

And don't even have to clean the stove.

That's good too. I think the ole lady did that recently when we didn't feel like sweltering outside.

I have way too many stove choices in case of power outages, and I too, have a solar system. I have a Coleman gas (several of those), butane, propane and even a cool Biolite stove that runs off wood and also has a built in thermal generator that has a USB port for charging. Pretty cool, toss some sticks in it, the fan kicks in, generates a tornado effect, make the fire REALLY hot and the heat charges the generator. I've used that little doohickey quite a few times, it actually works.

We use the Traeger all the time. If we lose power I want to use my toys !!

Good thing about that Traeger if you're thinking of it; it cooks food perfectly. We've cooked everything and it all tasted great. No opening/closing flues, no adding wood, stoking wood, etc.. It smokes it, then cooks it. It has bluetooth so you can see the temps of the grill, of the meat, etc., all from your air conditioned house. All that's missing is an internal camera with light so you can look at the food without raising the lid.....lol.

Ha!!! I’ve used one of those Biolite stoves for YEARS!! I was one of the first ones in to order one for public market on em during their startup thing around 2012-2013. I think I have 2 or 3 of em kicking around here now. In some box out in the garage most likely. First one I had eventually burned out. I literally wore a hole in the bottom corner of it. Used that thing for on the trail lunches and dinners and everything in between. People were kind of amazed I could have a hot lunch cooked and eaten by the time they got done with their cold cuts during the lunch time breaks for group runs.

I have the first gen model also, still kicking !! But (this will come as a surprise to all) I clean it real good after each use.

When I really want to bring out the "oh wow !! I remember those !!" I bring out my Svea 123 brass stove, early 1970's vintage, belonged to my Dad. Starting it up makes those that don't know, watch in amazement. Put fuel in, rub the brass tank rigorously to warm it up, open the petcock, a little fuel will squirt out and land in the recess on the tank under the head. Light the fuel on the tank, right before it sputters out, open the petcock. FOOOM !! You got a stove. You could cheat and squirt fuel there then light it, but the rubbing is the OEM way. You can hear an Svea stove going from 3 sites away, them little stoves ROAR.

Yep. I did buy some MSR gas thinking I was treating it special; it's just white gas like Colemans. I just paid a lot more....

I’ll stick with my twigs and pinecones. A little ball of Vaseline and dryer lint to get er started.

I went fishing on Assateague National Seashore today and ran all the way down to the MD-VA line. First time taking it on the beach and in spite of serious heat soak issues it was uneventful. Saw some horses, some ruins of old buildings in the seashore slowly returning to the sand and had some sharks tear apart my tackle. Cast- hit it hard and bent the shit out of the tip down and then it rocketed back upright. I reeled in to find the mono leader cut in half. There's been TONS of large bull, hammerhead and other sharks landed this year between Assateague and Ocean City MD, more than anyone can remember in a season. Didn't catch anything but definitely made a lot of offerings of Bass Pro's finest tackle to Poseidon.
