It appears the US is getting a new Dakota, perhaps very similar to the one sold in Brasil (at least that is what I have been reading here at times). If that is the case and the US Dakota will be based on something already in production, as opposed to a "new from the ground up" vehicle, does anyone have any idea on the size up front and if it could accommodate the 5.7 or 6.4 without limiting the towing capacity?

If that is in the mind of Stellantis, then I don't see them spending additional engineering time, money and effort to address the cooling in the Gladiator so it could tow more. People could just purchase the Dakota instead if they were looking for a mid-sized product with more power and higher towing. Stellantis wins with either.

Just my 5 cents (they don't make pennies any more).

According to TK’s most recent video (!,!) the 5.7 is coming to BOTH the Dakota and Gladiator in ‘27.

I have heard whispers of a new/smaller V8, something like 4.0L. If close to 5.7L hp that could be a good candidate.
Assuming it's not vaporware :giggle:

The Ram Rampage sold in Brazil is actually a subcompact truck. It's smaller than what the Dakota will be. The Rampage is a unibody whereas the Dakota will be body on frame. I think Ram said the new Dakota will be a 2028 model released sometime in Q3 or Q4 of 2027.

Thanks. So we are not comparing apples to apples here when we look at the Brasilian truck.

If it takes adding an inch here or inch there to make for room for air flow, it would make sense for Stallantis to do that. A Gladiator an inch or two wider would not, IMO, alter the "Jeep" look and may even enhance it, making it a bit larger and more "macho" .

But the geniuses at Stellantis know far more than me and may have decided that they need to alter the dimensions to make it look more similar to a Yugo or Trabant. Who knows.
