Run the cheapest stuff. It's not like gasoline that gets burned. DEF is just 1 part urea and 2 parts water that gets injected straight into the exhaust to catalyze oxides of nitrogen.

Is there just one kind and all different brands? Peak comes to mind for me.

There are name brands, Peak is one, and also each parts company has their own brand, all bottled by the same supplier. It's all the same formulation.

The same supplier is here in Reno. It makes almost all the Def and windshield washer fluid just re-bottled with whatever the store wants. I used to work there as a maintenance mechanic. Nastiest place ever.

Truckers go millions of miles on the DEF at the pump in truck stops. I have a few blue DEF jugs that I refill there, and store at moderate temperatures so it lasts for years. I also have an amazon refractometer to check it; it starts at 32.5% urea in very pure water.

They sure do and don’t get paid for the down time in a hotel away from home waiting for their trucks to get repaired. Been there done that.

The platinum here is about $6.00 more than the regular def.

I have an allergic reaction to a 5k-10k system replacement if it goes out after 100k. I consider it preventative maintenance. 😇

When DEF was starting to be a thing, one problem was people refilling the jugs with water and returning them to the store, where others would unsuspectingly buy them. I don't know if that is still going on but I check every jug of DEF using a refractometer before pouring it into my truck.

One thing I've noticed so far is that when I go to the pump, the DEF is definitely cheaper but does not last nearly as long as the Blue DEF in the box. I don't buy the premium, just the regular. But there was almost a thousand mile difference between filling up at the pump vs filling up from the box. Just food for thought.
