Get whatever is cheap, and fresh….

I look for dates and avoid anything older than 8months.

Also, once a jug is open use it only once…. If you try to save it… evaporation, and crystallization can happen, and you may clog your DEF injector.

Throw away any excess, don’t save it.

Don’t buy the expensive stuff, it makes zero difference. I wouldn’t say this about most other fluids FYI

You can go to a truck stop and fill up there. It's usually the cheapest but what do I know I stopped putting that shit in my truck a year ago. (and I love it)

When I first got my diesel. I got the regular DEF from Walmart for $16.00 a jug. In the winter, I used the premium DEF for $21.00 a jug. This past July, the wifey picked up a couple of jugs from Rural King for $6.00 a jug. Had no issues on using it.

Was at the parts store scratching my head, Oreilly brand $9.99 and Peak Platinum is $27.00 … I can’t imagine any difference being worth the difference …

There is no difference...except alot of marketing. All DEF on the market meets ISO spec and is exactly the same at the end of the day.

Saw that … kinda sealed the deal … shocked TRIPPLE?!?!
Anyways, same jug, same funnel, different box but cut on the same die (markings, holes, folds)

I convinced it’s the same …….

Supposedly the premium won't crystallized as fast. 🤔

It’s all I’ve used. @ 30k now. Also, somewhere between 25-30k mine finally started sipping it. My tanks been at just over 1/2 for 3k-4K and I’ve been waiting so I can dump a full container in.

I’m at 5400 miles and my vehicle is threatening not to start in 95 miles … I’m gonna see how serious it is about this. Did the government really create a scenario where a stupid emissions system can leave us stranded ??? What if someone cracks a tank, or a sensor goes bad???

I have 5 gallons in the bed ready to fill it back up.

Did they really create a scenario where the emissions system can leave you stranded? You bet.

If you guys or girls do a lot of short trips and not getting the EcoDiesel good and hot, you might want to run either Platinum DEF or Traveller Premium DEF. I used to run Platinum, but I now run Traveller since it's a lot cheaper. Both use an additive that reduces deposit formation in low-temp operation. If you want more information, let me know. I just don't have the time to dig up some of the SAE data on this subject.

Again, if you want to keep your DEF injectors clean and deposits from forming inside of the SCR, then you want to use Platinum or Traveller Premium DEF.

I also use Blue Platinum. The cheap def will work for exhaust requirements but may crystallize in the injection system. I feel like that will be an expensive repair.

Is there any evidence that these “premium” DEF products actually are any better for the SCR or DEF injectors? I’ve yet to see anything independent…and the SDS are exactly the same as any other ISO DEF product.
