Also can anyone clarify if assuming there are spacers out there for JTs thinner than 1.75 inches (which is the smallest I’ve seen)wouldn’t you have to cut the original lug studs to prevent them from sticking out from being flush with the spacer?
I didn't have to cut mine but I got Wide track axles like the Rubicon does. Not sure on a overland or regular sport since they haven't got wide track axles then that may have to be done. Not sure if the axle comes into play here or not but I think maybe so since a JT with wide track axles can run 35's with stock wheels without hitting the lower control arms and ones without wide track axles need spacers or wheels with more backspacing.

Synergy sells 1-5/8" spacers for the JL/JT. They reportedly work without cutting the stock studs.

We know, hopefully, there are laws in most states that are there to keep the tires under the wheel well for safety reasons. Same goes for max headlight height abve the road surface. I do wish the laws were vigorously enforced. There is a time and place for the poke and lift just not on the street/daily driver. Thankfully for some, I was not a LEO.
If the laws were vigorously enforced, there wouldn't be any large lift kits because it would violate maximum front and rear bumper heights. There wouldn't be any "drag radials" on motorcycles and muscle cars because they don't meet DOT tread requirements. There wouldn't be any fun exhausts on V8s because they would violate noise ordinances. Basically we'd be living in a trapped world that is 100% anti-American.

Thank God traffic laws are not vigorously enforced, because many of them are stupid.

I’m considering doing the same size tires on my stock Overland wheels too and was wondering if the tires would add a little Poke which is what I want. If not I’ve thought about Running a 1.75 in spacer to add some poke outside the fender. But of course, I’m hesitant on running a spacer all together. I’m pretty dead set on the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs, but open to anything that’s going to help achieve the look I want. if adding the 295/70 like I plan, pushes slightly out than I may be fine without a spacer.

What tire did you add in that size? And you have any side angled pics showing what you mentioned?
I'll see if I can find some pics. The tires are in my signature.

Guys on the JL side are running the BORA spacers in 1" or 1.25" and they work great. The pockets on the factory wheels accommodate the small amount of wheel stud that protrudes beyond the face of the wheel spacer. There's even a thread on the JL side where the guy shows all the measurements with a micrometer.

Never during my entire Law Enforcement career did I ever write a ticket specifically for a raised vehicle, and don't know an officer who did. Thee were attitude citations a plenty, but never because the vehicle was lifted.

Here's mine. Overland EcoDiesel. No spacers. Stock wheels. 295/70 Yokohama M/T. The sidewall tread sticks out just a little bit from the fender. If you put a 2" tape measure against the sidewall you'll see just how far wheel spacers would poke the tire out. It's actually a big difference. That's why I stayed stock. I might do a 1" spacer one day.

The thinnest spacer is going to be as long as the factory studs are which I believe are 1.75" but I don't have any reason to take a wheel off and verify.

Same here and I am current LEO. SMH. If people only knew. LEO don’t care about that, especially now days.

I have 33X12.5 Tires and went with the 1.5" Spacer with the stock overland rims. So far everything is fine maybe a bit too much poke but I love the look without dropping the $$ right now on wheels

Nice. Although I’m going with a 34in to nearly 35in tire eventually, I’m more concerned with how you got that wide of a tire on a 7.5 in wide rim.
Been told by a few that may be out of specs and most places won’t recommend it. Maybe I’m wrong but I’ve done a bit of research which has let me to the choice in tire I’m going with (295/70 or 285/75). In any case looks good. A bit too much poke than I’d prefer. But overall nice.

Yeah I researched a bit and I consulted my Local Off-road shop about it, supposedly the Tire we went with, it was in spec but I haven't been able to find any info to confirm that so I just trusted their recommendation. I went with Hankook Dynapro AT2's. I am planning to get new wheels in the future and don't do any major off-roading.

I'll leave this right here, this is the spec sheet for Discount tire. I have 37 12.5 17 tires on 17x7.5 stock steel wheels. Ran 315 70 17 tires before I had these mounted.

Looks good. Lifted at all or any mods needed to fit them in?

I ran the 315 70 17 for a few days with no lift. On a Rubicon and Max tow and Mojave you can get away with 35's with no lift. Overlands and regular sports you will hi the lower control arms at full lock. I now have Rubicon Takeoff front springs with a 2.5" Readylift SST lift kit that gives you 2.5 in the front and 2 in the rear. I kept the Max Tow springs I'm the rear for towing purposes and to almost level it out. I got about a 1/4" of rake front to back. This is the 315 70 17 with no lift or wheel spacers. On your Rubicon you should be able to do it with no wheel spacers as well and no lift.
