Which do you prefer? Cloth or leather?

I still prefer heated cloth seats and a heated wheel. You can always add covers to the kid's/dog's seat(s) if needed.

Do you plan on hitting the trail with the doors off?

Leather is easier to clean.

I don't do any serious off roading and hate leather for the reasons you mentioned.
I do ride with the top off and I couldn't imagine how hot leather seats would get sitting in a parking lot with the hot sun beating on them. It would burn my legs.

I'm cloth all the way.

I used to be a ‘clothe’ only person, but switched to leather and wouldn’t go with anything else. I’ve had leather in this JT and my previous Canyon.

Sure…leather is hot in summer & makes your legs get sweaty. I’d hate to tell you… your legs are going to sweat anyway… you don’t feel it as much on clothe because all that sweat gets soaked up by your clothe seats. Think about it….all those years of your seats soaking up all that sweat. Ewwww…..

I currently have the Leather seats in brown. In the past I’ve had both cloth and leather in my previous Gladiator and Wranglers. Leather is definitely easier to clean but, in my opinion, Jeep does not do a good job with leather in these trucks. They’re definitely not a soft supple leather Like in the Grand Cherokees. But that might be by design to be more durable.

I have leather but have had cloth in the past and kind of torn. The leather looks better, easier to clean, more durable but the cloth seats seem way more comfortable to me (I've added covers over the leather). Does anyone know if they use different padding/cushions in the leather vs cloth? The leather seats just seem overly firm

I prefer cloth. We've never gotten a cloth seat so dirty it couldn't be cleaned - but with three kids we own a Bissel extractor so even deep cleaning is pretty quick and easy. Leather gets too hot in the summer and to be honest - when I'm buying a vehicle everything I need is typically in with the cloth seats. Buying leather usually prices me up thousands of dollars that I just don't need to spend.

I know. Was referring to older Mojaves which could get black or white leather. Hell...maybe the white was only in cloth. It was cool.

Was white an option? I know there was a light grey that would look white in photos, but in person it did not look great.

I'll respond to this as someone who, like the OP appears to be, isn't trying to penny pinch by not paying for creature comforts. I realize some people can't afford, or don't want to pay for heated seats, remote start, etc., but I don't feel this thread falls into that category.

Leather gets too cold? If you live somewhere that gets cold, why in todays age do you not have heated seats or remote start? Your heated seats will turn on with remote start.

Granted I don't live in the south, but we still see plenty of sun and high temps. Remote start with A/C on to cool the cab. I don't enjoy getting into a 150deg cab. Do seats still get hot, sure, but not as bad and they cool off quick enough.

I have cloth and I've been looking for leathers to swap. I hate trying to keep them clean, especially out on the trails. They feel cheap, they look cheap. The only reason I have cloth is because trying to find a diesel Rubi for a decent price and not half ways across the country was difficult, so I compromised. IMO, the ease of cleaning and durability far outweigh them getting hot or cold for a minute.

I just picked up a '23 High Altitude trim and the leather interior was one reason why I liked it. But, I also had a Commander back in the day and the leather quality in that was terrible, cracked very early. I'm hoping this leather is more durable than it was then!

Looking at ordering a 26' Mojave. Actually ordered it last week but no VIN# yet so still time to change my mind. Kinda up in the air with interior. I've had leather in the past and found them to be hot and sweaty even in the great white north. So kinda leaning towards the bolstered Cloth but heated for those winter months. Thoughts?

Heated cloth seats in my Mojave and they clean pretty well. I use The Ugly Stone to deal with the dog hair

When I ordered my Overland back in 5/19, I got cloth. I didn't like the look of the leather (and the price). Glad I did. It's not nearly as cold in the winter or hot in the summer.

When mine came in, the first thing I did was to empty 3 spray cans of Scotch Guard on the seats. Still holding up and still clean looking. I got the tan seats in my Firecracker Red Overland. If you're worried about getting them dirty, then there are things you can get to help keep them cleaner like Weather Tech rear seat covers, Katskins, etc.

We have leather in the Bride's '19 Grand Cherokee Ltd. and I actually prefer the cloth in my Gladiator. They get warmer quicker in the winter (cold weather package) and stay cooler in the summer. Plus, the seats are more comfortable on long trips in the Gladiator than the GC.

I bought the current truck partly BECAUSE of leather seats. Going back to cloth was never even an option for me. I have no actual proof that Jeep uses leather that differs in quality between the trims/colors, etc (never cared enough to research it).....but I can for sure say that the saddle brown leather in this truck seems better in just about every way than the black leather I had previously.

It’s not bad unless you get black leather, but it’s completely fine if you put something over the seat bottom when it’s sitting in the sun in the summer with the top off.

What is bad is vinyl/fake leather seats. I had those in my old Mazda 3 and they would literally burn you and it wasn’t even a convertible.

Mojave sport bolstered cloth. The power heated seats are a nice improvement from what I had in my 2021 392…that got painful.

But I LOVE the bolstered cloth seats in my loaded with EVERY option…but no X or leather” Mojave. So comfy and the heated wheel, heated cloth, and zero hot/cold issues with temps…

Leather is more desired in resale but no thanks, this time. Love these seats.

Here in South Texas, leather means instant death unless you have a remote start to get the AC going.
