I have to replace the tires on my Sport S. I currently have Rubi takeoffs with BFG KO2s. I am going to stick with the 285/70R17s. In my price range I have narrowed it down to the tires below and was interested in anyone's opinion. I do light off roading and the Gladiator is my daily driver. I live in the country, so commute to work is on the highway, but around town are back roads.

General Grabber A/TX $307
Goodyear DuraTrac $332
Yokohama Geolander X-AT $296
BFG KO2 AT $318
prices are per tire, just for the tire

I am leaning toward the Goodyear and General because if the rebates. The Yokohama's are the cheapest, but I've never had those tires and aren't sure about them. The KO2s are the most expensive and seem to be the "worst" for highway driving.

AND before anyone says anything, I have to be money wise with the tires because my wife's wrangler needs new tires this spring. 9 Big Ass Tires in 6 months takes a hit on the budget. Yeah I know, bad timing on my part.

Thanks for the input.

And I'll throw another hat in the ring, the Toyo Open Country A/T III.

That said, of what you've listed, I've heard it said that no one ever buys a second set of DuraTrac's. They came factory on my dad's Silverado Trail Boss, and the noise and vibration from them was totally unacceptable at <40k miles.

There are some people on here that swear the Grabber AT's are the best thing since sliced bread, but they're only available in load range E if that matters to you. My spare is a used 285/70R17 Grabber ATX. I've never put it on, but it's a dang good looking tire.

I'll vote grabber as we love ours. I'll also second the guy above who said mickey thompsons, my parents' set have been excellent on their jk.

Take a look at Hankook Dynapro ATm. Good aggressive tread but, VERY quiet and a decent price. Had them on my '08 Grand Cherokee (Hemi) and it went through a foot and a half of snow like it was on dry road. I also drove from the Philly area to Chicago and back again and there was no issues with tire noise.

I put the duratracs on my wifes JL and they are very comfortable. There's just a slight hum to them which I don't find bothersome, especially compared to the loud Firestone MT's on my Willy. A member above mentioned the ultraterrains being really good, which is good to hear. My dad had those on his colorado and hated them as they were very rough -- different vehicle though.

This is the first I've heard this. I thought the general consensus on Duratracs was they are nice tires.

Don't shy away from the Milestar XT's .... I'm trying out a set in 37's and they were very well priced and drive very quite and smooth

Its all about opinions I guess, so here is mine

Not sure how accessible or price of these are over there
https://maxxistyres.com.au/tyres/at811-razr/
https://www.maxxis.com/us/tire/razr-at/
We had the BFG Muds come stock on the JTR over here
We use "Rubi" (I know, original right ..lol) for a daily drive and mild off road
The BFG's were horrendous on wet roads, I mean scary as hell at times.
And the noise on a highway was off the charts by 10,ooo k's (about 6500 miles)
I got chatting with a local mechanical, he convinced me to give the Maxxis a shot over Falken Wildpeak AT3's
so slapped on a set of Maxxis AT811 285/70/17 LT's
Did a road trip a couple of weeks later (5ooo k's round trip)
Noise was very mild, I could actually hear the wind noise on the car over tyre noise
Traction on wet roads was fantastic, way better than expected to be honest
Off road, mud rock and sand no complaints at all - but mild stuff
and tyre wear 12 months and near 20,ooo k's on is barely noticeable, I expect to get 60,ooo plus easy out of the set
They are tough as nails, and over here for a small price you could insure them for 12 months that they would be replaced "anywhere" at no cost if it failed in any way, but never had to worry

Lastly, and lets be honest, something to consider IMHO :), they look good, aggressive, so for me keeps that visual I wanted

This brand does the Trepador's competition tyres for crawling etc

Good luck in your choice

The Falken Wildpeak A/T3W's that came on my Rubi are a nice tire for both highway and mild off road. $289 each at Discount Tire.

I have had KO2's and liked them but for the price, the Falken's are right up there on my list when I need new tires.
