Despite the recent management shakeup at Stellantis, and CEO Taveres statement that he will leave in 2026, who do you think will buy the assets of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge & Ram if they are to be divested by Stellantis?

I don’t think they will divest. Having said that, if they do, probably a Chinese company, or VW. That is, if it’s a car company.

Who has the $$$$$ and motive. The best way to beat your competition is to own them.

They will either survive or they won't.
There have been more failed car companies than prosperous ones in this country.

Just in my lifetime, Plymouth, Pontiac, Mercury, Oldsmobile, DeLorean, AMC, Dodge cars, Chrysler anything but minivan. Before that there are countless more.

In an open, free market, we the consumer decide what is good and what is not.

Tata or BYD would love an established dealership network in the US.

Here is no way the US government wouldn't shut that deal down.
No kidding. America's most patriotic brand owned by the CCP? All the nopes.

Oooooo, that could be fun. Not likely but could be fun. LS swap all the things!

My money is still on VW. I've written elsewhere but here's the reasoning-

1. Established (and growing) relationships with Cummins via International/Navistar.
2. Good relationship with the UAW through both the VW and the International/Navistar portfolio.
3. Not much of anything in the CDJR lineup crosses over with current VW production. VW would walk into market share it didn't have before in multiple categories and segments that are highly profitable.

-Trucks (Ram, JT)
-Off road "lifestyle" vehicles (JLU/JT)
-Full size SUV (Grand Cherokee L, Wagoneer)
-Minivan (pacifica/caravan)

Fiat sourced vehicles like the Hornet, Promaster would go away but VW has oodles of vans to choose from and although the dozens of Hornet owners will be upset, such is life.

Tata could possibly for many of the same reasons as VW.

A Chinese company.

An Indian company.

A shitty Private Equity firm that will drive the brand into the ground and/or part out the entire company like it's a stolen 1996 Honda Civic.

I doubt VW has the cash right now, after Diesel-gate they had to scrap their entire development plan and shift to quickly making EVs to satisfy their settlement. They also don't have the cash reserves they used to because they had to pay (checks notes) $14.7 Billion USD in fines - and that was just in the US.

Wow.
How fast this forum has gone from calling people crazy for thinking the Gladiator might be scrapped soon to believing the entire company might be circling the toilet bowl ready to be flushed.

There’s rumors of Renault merging with Stellantis. God forbid the French govt. gets involved with Stellantis. 🔥💣
That would make it:

  • Abarth
  • Alfa Romeo
  • Chrysler
  • CitroĂ«n
  • Dodge
  • DS
  • Fiat
  • Jeep
  • Lancia
  • Maserati
  • Opel
  • Peugeot
  • Ram Trucks
  • Vauxhall
  • Renault
  • Alpine
  • Dacia
  • Lada
It would also tie to Nissan, Datsun, and Mitsubishi.

I would hate to see GM get ahold of Jeep. If that happens, you can pretty much kiss the Solid Front Axle on the Wrangler/Gladiator goodby. Probably other manufacturers too. I think when things shake out, in the short term, Chrysler is gone. Dodge, Dodge Ram, and Jeep will be all that is left for the Corporate vultures to pick over. As for Jeep, I think the Gladiator is in its' last year or two of manufacture. Which pains me, because I would like to buy a Gladiator but I don't think the timing between my finances and the Gladiator production run are going to coincide. So, I will continue to drive the Jeep Wrangler I have and contemplate what I am going to buy if Stellantis kills the Gladiator.
