I bought the mojave as the gladiator as a rock crawler is just not the right tool for the job. We have our 2022 JLUR for that with 39s and 3.5" of lift. The gladiator wheelbase is massive and the departure angle is even worse. To get a gladiator to the point of being as capable as the rubicon we already have would take 8" of lift and 42s and it would still be too long on a lot of trails. The mojave on the other hand uses those weaknesses as strengths. Much more stable at high speed in the desert thanks to the extra wheelbase. It still got an aev 2" lift and 37s so as to retain the suspensions ability while offering the much needed clearance for such a long rig. It's built enough to be used as a recovery rig should the JLUR need it, but still low enough it handles great at freeway speeds in the dirt. One for rocks and one for desert speed.

You guys don't use your lockers?
well actually i had to the other day to pull my buddy's 4runner out of a ditch in 2 ft of snow. other than recovery and deep snow, i dont really touch it, but im an overlander not a rock crawler. If i liked rocks more than camping I think i would have gotten a 2 door rubi.

I want my truck to be all purpose, but I went with a Rubi over a Mojave. My thought was I had enough mechanical skill to change the shocks, but I don't have the skill to mess with adding a locker to the front diff...

Playing in the snow the other day, even though the rear locker says "shift to 4L" I figured out it would let me lock the rear in 4Hi if I used offroad+ and turned off stability control. Not sure if stability needs to be off, but it's what I did before trying the rear locker. I'm going to call that "Mojave Mode" I think. I'll eventually do a better shock. Not sure about the knuckles, might leave those as a sacrificial breaking point.

Edit: I guess I say all that just to say, to me Rubi was the better bang for the buck in my eyes.

I feel like people really overestimate what they “need” for rock crawling. The rear locker, 2” AEV lift, and 37s is more than you really need. I met a guy on a trail once with a gladiator covered in badges, who was in the middle of a month long cross country badge hunting trip to grab a bunch that he still wanted to get. He had just done the Rubicon Trail and was working his way back east through Texas. Guy had a
Sport S, factory skid plates, factory 3.73 gears and limited slip, and a 3 inch lift with 37s.
