Or maybe you can call a lawyer. Let him tell you since that is HIS job. You are asking people on a forum their opinion. When you don't like their opinion you want them to do research to qualify their opinion for you. Go to the meeting and see what they say. If you are still pissed then do what you have to do.

Yes. Well, I am pissed. I specifically said and was told that they would not perform that service.

Simple.

Who would not be upset? All I am asking is IF there is a Law that permits them to perform a service without owner's compliance AND is mandated by federal regulation, please let me know where to find it. I have looked.
It's like your virginity, once you lose it, not getting it back. If you are still a virgin, well bad analogy.

Have your fit, have your cry and internet lawyer it to death, but they are not going to unwind a recall software update to a prior version based on your previously mentioned internet conjecture that the recall update causes more issues.

I haven't seen any complaints about the software update, I did a quick Google search for problems and there was no problems on the first 1/2 dozen or so results I saw. What problems are people having? I did the update and noticed absolutely nothing different except the stupid gear number read out. What problems are people having?

Had the Y01 fix prior to receiving in April. All the speculation beforehand, including my own, turned out to be invalid and unfounded, the concerns regarding "crippling" the power were just simply untrue. The limp mode when overheating is extrapolated is temporary and ends up being the best option short of an extremely costly redesign/replace for a clutch that operates just fine. It's no Centerforce, but it's now irrelevant which clutch is in there with the Y07 in your rig. As @sharpsicle mentioned above, you should feel MORE confident with the JT as you're covered by the recall. Plus, you'll find the gear indicator on the dash turns out to be fairly handy. I'd just go in and explain your concerns with what you have read and expect them to handily knock each one down. The fix is truly clever by being basically free for them to perform, outside labor, and it eliminates any possibility of the variable triggering any catastrophic failure being the driver.

As far as the dealer's obligation by law to initiate the recall fix regardless of the consumer's wishes...

Motor Vehicle Defects and Safety Recalls: What Every Vehicle Owner Should Know | Safercar.gov | NHTSA (dot.gov)

and specifically...

Microsoft Word - MVS.rtf (nhtsa.gov)

Once they SAW (prima facie) that your vehicle required the fix in spite of your wishes, any recalls initiated as a safety concern MUST be performed even if you own it outright or not. I'm certain that your dealer's team has the specific section/subsection that will explain that they had absolutely no choice in the matter, that pdf uses the word "required" quite a bit so expect to hear it a lot tomorrow.

You may be understandably pissed about it, but there is absolutely nothing that will change OR actually be pissed about. The dealership can NOT make your vehicle unsafe, and as I stated above, concerns over the flash just don't hold any water and any dealership can plug it in and download without any skill level past second grade. Enjoy the gear indicator you now have and rest at ease.

And bring them doughnuts tomorrow instead of a fight. The service writer will appreciate them seeing that he will be the one on the spot. Hell, see if you can get a break on parts or a larger purchase like a winch.

Everyone, besides the ones who are hellbent on being difficult.

You may well have voided your warranty too if the dealer ignored the safety recall, which was issued to mitigate risks of fire.

You're not going to win this one. Go find another ambulance to chase.

Well, Jeep was noted as the most American brand, and quibbling over every little last detail to hopefully find where your adversary was wrong has definitely become the new American pastime.

It is nauseating how how soft so many people are. Direct result of giving everyone a trophy at the baseball tournaments the past 10-15 years ??

The "Yes/Yes" poll? Created after the original was deleted for being 100% "No"? Good stuff.

I'm fine with the software update noticed no performance difference, that gear indicator is kinda lame but like Munkey Boy said it might be handy for some. It's no big deal as far as I'm concerned. It seems to be a failsafe for people that don't know how to drive a clutch equipped vehicle.

Even though they specifically said (documented) they would not do the Y07 software patch?
They are essentially obligated by law to do it if it is a recall. Like others have said, the service manager screwed up by telling you they could skip it.

As others have also said a recall means it is considered to be severely safety related.

A service bulletin is a different matter. Often recalls begin as service bulletins.

Well. Not the responses I was expecting. All your opinions are respected and appreciated.
You are SPECIFICALLY being difficult.

Chill
Out

Jesus f**** chr***. For F**** sake. Chill the f*** out and go smoke a bowl or drink some scotch or meditate or whatever relaxes you. Or sell your newly demon spawned Jeep.

F***.
