I get 14 in the winter, and 16-17 in the summer. I had tunes go as high as 19-21 but the power was abysmal. I run 10-11 psi now
nice i could survive with 17MPG and making a bit more power. with some states getting 93 octane being nearly impossible like me in my area of MN will your current tune take 91 octane?

i didn't mean plug in and zero maintenance ever. i more meant do the install have a tune done with a dyno pull and then you got to drive it 12,000 or more with no issues or blown engines. ive heard of people running to the tuner every week for months only to end up with a blown engine.
Gotcha the tune is crucial . It took me a few tries with my RIPP but once I got it dialed in I basically didnt need to touch "The tune " again... went over 15k miles with it before trading it in for a 392 wrangler...

how many times did you have to go back and forth to the tuner before it was right enough to do that 15K miles?

I went back a few times (took about a week and like 3 tunes ) but I live in Colorado and we go back n forth between our cabin and denver area... We are a mile up in altitude at our home and 9k feet at our mtn cabin... the tuning was all about altitude in my case .... I was pulling some rich codes and random @ start/stop issues .... The thing is the tune takes auto stop/start off but it was still tripping warnings in that area even with it disabled. My guess is there are thresholds and if those are out of range it disables auto stop/start for protection .... Ripp will work with u on tunes and its easy to download logs and send to them. They use diablo tuner "öut of the box " but their default tune was no good to me

so which supercharger kit did you end up with on your 3.6?
Read around on this forum.

you will realize that Dave is not you or me. He writes his own tune and is not afraid of fiddling.

He's good enough at it that there are probably 100 people running his tunes.

I have activated all the timing tables, my tune will run 87 -93 or higher. You will not like the performance at 87, but it will run it safely, even towing. I also have the barometer calculations enabled as I have worked with more than a couple Mountain people :). Really the biggest issues I have had to date are unique operating systems, Engines that have problems to start with, like bad cam phasers or coil packs. I have also struggled with rev hang on manual tucks as I do not have a local tester to try things on. I so far have been able to sort out all the guys I have worked with. It does take some data logging and troubleshooting, but I can usually spot things in the data pretty quick.

How much is a supercharger, associated upgrades, and good tune vs a 5.7 Hemi swap?

Probably most sc are 6-9k . I looked into the 392 swap and it’s 35-38k . I ultimately decided on trading in my glad for a 392 Wrangler due to that swap price.. I was lucky and found a good dealer that was mod friendly . That’s the other thing to consider with SC - if u do decide to trade it in one day most dealers don’t even wanna touch it so keep the stock intake system in case one day u do decide to trade it in . Trust me I thought I was never gonna trade or sell my gladiator but that was before I felt the power of the 392 .. personally I think you won’t be happy with a 5.7 swap if you are already thinking about supercharging your rig . Guessing 5.7 around upper 20k range ??

i'm not thinking of doing anything that invasive to this rig, I was just wondering why people go forced induction rather than taking the next step

That being said, after seeing my neighbor's 392 I want one even more, but i'd rather keep this and have money for a 2nd project instead

I'm stoked for you that you have one

just think about resale value and do your due-diligence before adding the SC…There are several vendors out there to chose from and tbh lots of dodge V6ers been pushing this envelope for awhile now so there is tons of literature and experiences on this engine platform

are u seriously running without a tune ? Thats def a recipe for disaster and quite frankly surprised u are not pulling CELs all over the place . Or is that thing sitting parked ? good luck for sure
I'm not running it. It's just been parked since I installed the supercharger. I don't want to remove everything, go back to stock, and then find out HP Tuners supports the new ECM a week later. Just patiently waiting for now.

guys another potential solution is to get the diesel with 442 ft lbs of torque at like 1800 rpm. Diesel option is 6K more, factory, 100K miles warranty, no tuning...

A tuner can make or break your motor. Have one motorcycle with a SC on it. Had that tuned on a Dyno. My 370Z is twin turbo'ed. That was tuned on a Dyno. My Power Wagon has e-mailed tune on it. Each of these. I found great tuners that was willing to take their time, and not copy and paste a tune. It's a combination of your wants and the tuner. Seen a lot of broken Z motors from bad tuners. The stock motor has limits on how much boost it take. Be it split plastic intake manifold, rod through the block, broken crank, or a lifted head.

Reading DaveSC1 posts. He's got a good handle on things. He's pointed out a few things that some tuners don't know about or just bypass them.

Too many short trips. If I bought a diesel, it would carbon up and break. Know your vehicles needs before you buy it.

When I first retired from the AF, I was a shop maintenance manager for Caterpillar and then Detroit Diesel. Long haul trucks do great, but I saw a lot of pickup trucks with carbon problems. Don't even get me started on Generators. We would need to take a load trailer out yearly to get them warm enough to burn out the carbon. The places that went cheap and didn't the units would always fail when they were needed.
