@azmojave, Anderson Mill is a very interesting place. It is remarkable that they wielded that thing together and it's still standing. We take some trails over the mountains from there to Wickenburg. It's a beautiful view from the top.

Not an ideal vehicle choice, but crossed an item off of my bucket list today and drove the Tail of the Dragon.

The drive was a blast for me, my passengers…not so much ? I did warn them yesterday, though ??‍♂

I love the Dragon, I go every year. We used to ride up but the older I get the less fun 500 mile rides are. If I had a touring bike? But a low rider gets uncomfortable after 300 miles.

Took it to DMV. Bought my Gladiator in ID at Peterson in Nampa. Registering in CA. Wish I had known that I needed smog and scale certificates to complete the registration. More non-mod money I have to spend. Hopefully that will be it.

Black vanity plates are going to have to wait at this point.
As someone who did the same thing, same dealership as well, you do not need to have anything related to scale certificates. I’ve gotten multiple cars (& trucks) outside of California and brought them in. It just needs to be smogged.

Not according to DMV. Since all trucks are considered commercial now, I needed to give $13 to CAT to weight it before they would finish the registration. Cars may be different.

Perhaps that’s very new then. I bought my 2022 Gladiator in February. And about two years prior to that I bought a 2020 Ram Rebel from out of state as well.

In neither case, my local DMV did not require it.

at least it’s only 13 bucks, but that must be an additional hassle to have to go to a scale and get it weighed.

<shrug> I didn't know about the smog the first time I went in so equal hassle? Maybe it is new, I have no clue. I do find it funny that the Jeeps built for CA and ID are identical, but sold in CA doesn't need a smog when sold new.

Nampa mails the dealer paperwork directly to DMV and then a separate letter to buyer saying the DMV paperwork is on the way. I made an appointment with DMV for the next week after I got my letter to give the mail a few days to catch up. I went in to DMV and was surprised by needing weight and smog certs.

DMV rep said they received the paperwork and sent me a letter with what I needed to do to finish registration. I received that letter in the mail the same day I went to DMV. If I hadn't been proactive for once, I would have known ahead of time.

Oh well. Lesson learned and hopefully help a future CA buyer.

I bought 2016 Rubicon Hard Rock since I am still waiting on my axle for my Gladiator. I miss my truck so much but this tiny Jeep will be fun as a spare. It's a manual, so that is cool.
