I finally put in the Oracle RGB rock lights I’ve had for about two years.
What a joke!
I love how their flush taillights look, but held off buying them because of all the issues getting them to work or having bulbs go out.
After dealing with their products firsthand, I think it’s safe to say they are a lower tier quality company, selling at upper tier prices.
I watched a video comparing a bunch of other rock lights, and many looked the same as these and were cheaper btw, you can get this same garbage coming out of the same factory in china for cheaper off eBay or Amazon.
BTW these are universal products, and do not fit a gladiator. They have four 6.5’ leads and four 10’ leads. If you wire the box to your aux switches under hood, there is no way they will reach past the rear doors. I ran the wires down the firewall on each side and down the frame rails.
Awesome, don’t reach the rear. So they do sell 6ft extensions for $9 a piece?.
Also, I thought it would be easier if I mounted these with magnets. I should’ve DIY’d it but ordered their magnet mounts for $11.66 a piece. Trouble is, the screws included aren’t long enough to go through the magnet and bracket.
?
I googled and their answer is to clamp/compress the rubber mounts until the screws catch the nut.
I farted around for an hour trying to mcguyver this until I just stopped trying to get the nuts to capture, and ordered longer m4x0.7 22mm screws from McMaster (93395A264).
So after ordering 4 extensions, and new screws, I got everything together to actually run wire.
Now, I ordered these lights because I thought it would be nice to be able to change the color, though TBH I will probably just either run amber or red at night.
Soooo the Oracle app wouldn’t connect or control the lights and upon connecting they would just rotate colors like old Christmas lights.
Googled again, they recommend a different app that usually works (HappyLighting). Success! Another 30mins of screwing around and I got the lights to work.
However, I’m not happy with the color selection of these now $320 lights.
They have separate RGB bulbs and to make other colors they blend like a color wheel, except you can see the separate red/green bulbs or whatever.
So there’s my amber that I was hoping to run ? (fart noise).
At least pure red looks ok since it’s not blended .
so these altogether cost me ~$320. For only red lights..
As a comparison, I could order any generic $100 kit from Amazon and still piece together stuff..
Or, order a quality KC C-series RGB 6pc kit for $229, which is similar to this but better quality for sure.
A baller KC cyclone 6pc kit $319 has 16, 11, 8ft cords. Pretty much nailed it for the gladiator. Magnets and colored lenses add $53, $372 total. Would definitely do this if I started over.
(Also Lux 8pc lights are $449. Nice but I think I’d do KC. FYI an 8pc magnetic KC cyclone kit is $486 priced out. 6pc probably fine?).
