OEM tires are only half wore out but I couldn’t wait any longer. I got my 35’s! Biggest tire I’ve ever had, and they look perfect. 35x11.50r17 Nitto Trail Grappler. Stock truck, stock wheels. No rubbing (so far on street) and no poke! Exactly what I wanted. I’ll find out how they do on the trail tomorrow.

I wanted a rifle mount with some protection from honest thieves when I’m enjoying my post ride Mexican food at some restaurant, not long term storage. I don’t like vertical dash mounts like a cop car. I don’t like guns overhead or on those behind the seat MOLLE racks where everyone can see them. I wanted to be able to leave my gun in the truck at camp out of the way but get to it quickly in case of wild dogs, aggressive feral ?’s, Roanoke Valley moonshiners, etc.

I think this solution is both discrete and secure. To get this out, someone is going to have to use a drill, reciprocating saw, etc, and then hand tools. Generally, not something that’s going to happen when I’m in a restaurant or taking a leak at a gas station.

I came up with the following:
  1. @813 Fabrication & Design - under seat MOLLE basket. This thing is nice. It already holds my tool roll and awning crap and importantly it locks. It’s worth getting for itself.
    https://www.813fabrication.com/product-page/under-seat-bin-full-molle-front-and-base
  2. Grey Man Tactical Locking Rifle Kit: https://www.opticsplanet.com/grey-m...le-rack-kit.html?_iv_code=4HW-GH-GMT95-000013
This is designed to work with a MOLLE panel like the 813 basket basically is and includes a Santa Cruz GunLocks SC-6, with electronic timer. It also comes with an additional snake cable lock

Jeep Gladiator What did you do TO your Gladiator today? [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS, NO GUN TALK] A3AA22A5-EE2F-4595-98E7-E4208FECA9D2

Important Details:
  • I painted the butt cap black (it comes raw aluminum) and added high density foam.
  • The 813 basket is stiff enough but I added some L brackets internally to stiffen it up more. It’s secured to the floor from the inside.
  • Everything is mounted from inside the basket and the seats lock down to the basket, so you can’t just unscrew the butt cap or lock. You have to get the locked seats up.
  • I added additional plastic to the inside of the rack to make it impossible to finagle a tool through the MOLLE to unscrew the mounts
  • The SC-6 included a key hole but it’s NOT a standard handcuff key in this case. Also the key hole is on the bottom, so picking it would be difficult. I can barely get the key in.
  • There’s plenty of room for a suppressor and that’s a 16” barrel.
  • Hard to tell from the pics, but there’s plenty of room for feet on both sides.
  • I’m in the process of sewing a 1000d Cordura shroud to go over the gun but my dog’s back seat hammock usually is installed covering up the entire footwell. With the doors closed you can’t see anything
  • It’s low, but there’s enough room for a stubby vertical foregrip
  • With foam added to the butt cup it doesn’t rattle or move at all
  • There’s not enough room for a full 30 round magazine (a smaller one will fit) but driving around with a loaded concealed rifle presents obvious legal issues anyway so I’m not endorsing that. Follow applicable local/state laws.

As for the electronic lock. It’s mounted inside the bottom of the center console, so it’s also under lock and key, but it’s mounted in such a way that I can open the top lid of the console and with the tray in place still activate the release despite it not being obviously visible. I had to remove and fully disassemble the center console to get it in but it gave me a chance to thoroughly clean crumbs and dirt out of everything. The lock works with Accessory ON. With the truck off and key gone, the electronic lock won’t work. I may make that feature selective with additional wiring

That’s major badassery right there! I’ve got a Ruger mini-thirty “target” model that I’d like to keep handy for yotes and such. I’m going to give this setup some serious consideration!

Yeah it’s great. I’ve been using an Atlas 46 Yorktown Tool Roll for over a year with basically every hand tool I need to work on this vehicle (the roll weighs over 60 lbs). It all fits on the long side of the bin. I added some 1 1/2 inch diameter PVC pipe spacers that I cut under it on that side to better support the weight, since the bin floats. This thing totally solved my tool storage problem. And now I’ve got this second use. It’s a massive improvement over the stock storage tray/box and it’s secure.

The only note that I would make, and only because I'm a neatfreq, is I installed some 3m doublesided cushion tapeto avoid the metal on metal contact. I'm very pleased with the results and it only took me about 20 minutes to install by myself.

Finished designing and my buddy printed my overhead console thing (not sure what to call it) for my spod and g screen.. Also some space left for something else possibly.

I still need to do the wiring, but pretty happy so far.

I may or may not sand and paint it, but it kind of dissappears up there, so probably not lol..
