Put the Bolt hood lock on. I’d waffled on this for a while, but decided I did want the hood locked, for when parking in metro areas. The install was pretty easy, other than not having a 1/4” rivet tool. After failing to find one locally, I used bolts instead.

After installing the skid plates the huge muffler just hung too low so I installed a MBRP emissions crap back exhaust. No change in sound but much lighter and the ground clearance is outstanding.

yesterday on easter Monday I finally almost finished the front steering .

i sadely had to repaint ( and the painter decided to use a super thin and weak paint ???) in black the steering components to prevent any bullshit behavior from the yearly check up .

they are so stupid here that if its too shinny they are able to refuse the car because of that

metalcloak drag link
metalcloak tie rod
metalcloak FAD skid plate
and Steering stabilizer relocation front bracket ( I know still a hole to drill ;-) battery was dead

step by step we are getting closer of the final point of what I would like on my gladiator

next step will be next week but it not of my hands. Regearing in 5.13

This week starts the final big push to get things done before Overland Expo West. I'm on v2 of my overland build and the remaining items are to 1) install the RhinoRack Back Bone and Pioneer Platform so that I can 2) expand my solar array from 100W to 200W and 3) finish the install of my CoverKing Topliner.

After waiting 3 weeks for the RhinoRack bits and bob, it finally made it home:

Started to get the Pioneer Platform assembled:

And only had time to get one of the solar panels mounted for today:

Tomorrow, will be pulling down the old rack and transferring that solar panel over, drilling and installing the Back Bone and figuring out how to mount a few interior things to the interior Back Bone braces. Thursday will be adjusting the fitment between the new solar platform and the RTT that sits on my canopy. Friday will be the last step of removing the hardtop to install the back half of the Topliner (all of the Boom Mat is already installed and the Freedom Panels are fully complete).

With any luck, I will get all of that done and head out for a week to test things out.

We help sellers get multiple offer for their car in as little as one business day.
Thanks! I haven't had a chance to "test" them yet. I don't purposely do rock crawling, but for the occasional stumps and boulders, they should be good. I really like the fit and finish. They curve with the body contour and do a good job of covering the pinch seam. Prior to this, I had the Overland side steps, which were very practical for getting in and out (especially with kids). The steps on these are much shallower, but they work. The textured finish is grippy and provide good traction. The bottoms are nice, as they are contoured to prevent objects from catching. The price was great- only $500 on Craigslist.
Great call. They sound like quite the set-up even outside rock crawling. And you got a sweet deal too! Bonus!

Well...it's that tomorrow and I got after it!

Transferred the old 100W photovoltaic panel over with its brother on the new Pioneer platform:

Got the Rhino-Rack Back Bone installed. It was a bit of a PITA but mostly self-inflicted because my awning is in the way and I didn't want to take it off if I could work around it (here's how tight that side was to work in):

And finally, the array is up and running at 15.1V and 0.7a...LOL...my battery was already full so no joy!

I still need to remove the hard top to finish the Topliner install later this week and when I do, I'll be shifting the RTT back a bit as the platform can't really go any further forward...maybe an inch...

Cheers!

No relo...I don't use it. I am always running Carplay and honestly, for all I know, the sat antenna is like "Schrodinger's Antenna". It's either working or it isn't...lol.

If Uconnect uses it for updates then I assume it is working as is because it just updated last week with my other platform installed over top of it.

A day behind posting this, but yesterday I finished the RR Max Terrain fender install along with some Oracle Sidetrack lights. The side track lights are really bright and the housing blends right in to the fender vent area.
Overall easy installs and the fender gap difference is really nice, I will say riding with no fenders for a few days made me consider a fender delete altogether...maybe if I rip these off on something...?

Had a front end alignment done prior to the 30,000 mile mark. I added 1 1/2” spacers to the front after winch and bumper install and run a snowplow. Tires still pretty good so I was looking at a fine tune to get a few extra miles out of them before replacement. Not off by much! Tight and torqued, ready to go!
