I'm looking to buy and prices here in FL aren't that different between new and used. Like 5/6k for base models, and a lot are near or out of factory warranty.
With the common issues would you buy one with no factory warranty?

Absolutely. However, I like to do my own maintenance, repairs, and modifications. The Gladiator power train has a proven track record of general reliability and longevity. As with any vehicle, a small portion have issues, but overall, it's a very reliable vehicle.

I'll let more experienced people comment about warranty, but check out the Gladiator section at jeep.com and see what the current bonus cash incentives are in your area. Likely about $3k. And if you hang around long enough and build some virtual Jeeps you'll likely eventually get a pop-up for your own incentive, where they'll email you a $1k incentive code.

Then consider you could order from Koons (VA), Tri-City (NC), or Gupton (TN) and get about 7% under invoice. And invoice may be about 4.5% under MSRP. Even with a drive/flight, you're saving if going new if your FL lots aren't comparable. The incentives are stacked with that under invoice pricing, it's not an either/or. You could be approaching $10-12k under MSRP depending on build and incentives you're eligible for.

With all that, for me, ordering new made more sense.

I would not, unless it was a significant savings. You can add an Extended Warranty to a used one, but the cost brings it up to the new price range.

My Overland is almost four years old with over 47k miles. So far, it has been extremely reliable, but some of them have some major issues.

If the difference is 5 or 6k. The the difference is ZERO when ordered from Gupton.

So why buy used? Unless you are impatient.

You can always reach out to the fella everyone on this forum uses and get a mopar extended warranty.

i got one for my wifes used JLU. Paid $2,000-ish for it. I ended up using an app called affirm to “finance” it and split the payments up over 12 months. Made that large upfront cost easier to handle.

It depends - but ponder this for a moment. How many out of warranty vehicles that are more than 10 years old trade hands on a daily basis....and how many of them have major issues?

That being said, personally, if a new gladiator with a warranty is only 5 or 6K more than a used one, I would work on saving that extra 5 or 6K. Even considering not everybody's warranty experiences are positive. Because that is a lot of coin to spend on something that has an unknown history. Prices of used vehicles, at least here in Montana, are absolutely ludicrous.

I really dislike this continued "buy from Gumption" debate. Not everybody has the luxury to travel. It's cool for those who can, but I think the vast majority of buyers are not able to do so.

For sure, it's not something everyone can do, and not something everyone has equal access to. The further you are, the more the savings go down and inconvenience goes up; but something to consider for anyone able. If I could have had a MI dealer get even close in price, I'd pay extra for the convenience and to build a relationship with a local dealer

I'm relatively lucky with a couple of the usuals within 9 hours drive. Appalachian area seem to be the lucky ones with three well known dealers. I think there was another in the Iowa area, but didn't look any further as the usuals had the best/equal deals I'd ever seen reported.

the southern areas seem to have a lot more of those types of deals which I do find interesting - and prices are SO crazy variable. My area they sell easily for 5-10K more than other states. The OP is from Florida so for them it may make total sense to do that.

There's supposed to be one of those discount dealers in Idaho, if I remember correctly. I was thinking about going through them if I get another one.

When considering a used vehicle, I think the most important thing is vehicle condition. Check it out really well. Crawl under it to see any oil leaks or if its been trashed off road or sent a lot of time on the beach. Check the oil for signs of never being changed, things like this.

I wouldn't have an issue buying a used/out of warranty Gladiator, but I'd be doing more research if I was in your shoes. IF the prices really are only $5-6K different I'd buy new with incentives and what-not.

here near Atlanta used Gladiator prices have dropped significantly. I bought new a year and a half ago because of the crazy market and ordering new and waiting was actually LESS than used, but that's not the case anymore. I'd probably buy used if I bought one now.
