After some back and forth with my local dealer, my service advisor agreed to install an aftermarket clutch but that I would be responsible for the ~$1500 in labor plus the cost of parts. The guy I spoke with at the FCA recall center stated that I would be reimbursed for installing an aftermarket clutch, as long as the service was completed by a certified Jeep dealership and as long as I provide proof of payment.

Definitely interested in hearing if money hits your bank account on this one. I don't think across any of this or the other threads on the matter we have confirmation yet of someone actually seeing payment of any kind for aftermarket solution.

Up to 11 now. Clearly something is happening.
I spoke to Renee at Gupton on Friday - I sent her an email and she called me back the same day to talk over the phone. She is seeing the same thing - MT orders are getting moved to production status, which is a great sign! My USPS email says I’m getting another letter from FCA today. I’ll be anxiously awaiting the mail and will post if there is anything new in the letter. The Jeep app hasn’t been updated since 3/5 and still says parts are not available and “remedy is currently under development.”

So I assume you're waiting for recall repair info? Either way, it looks like the ball is rolling now! Good luck with your letter!

Very interesting, thanks for the update

Thanks! Unfortunately the letter is for a different recall, ZE2, for the tailgate.
“The tailgate manual lock controller on your vehicle May over-cycle and jam the latch. This condition will allow the tailgate to close, but it will not reopen.”

I was waiting for ACT to have their JP6 back in stock. With wanting to upgrade in the future to 37s and 5.13s, it might make sense to just get this out of the way sooner rather than later and have a solid clutch that won’t fail under stress…

I confirmed the alignment tools arrived today so everything is in stock. Our website should update either tonight or tomorrow, or you can call in the order.

That explains a lot. I opened the letter and went straight to the proposed remedy assuming it was for the clutch pressure plate. It said the solution was to replace the 'tailgate controller' and I was pretty confused.

It also looks like the order banks for NEW 6MT Gladiators have opened back up. Can anyone confirm? If this is true, we're definitely on the road to a solution.

I finally feel comfortable teaching my wife how to drive stick like i promised. Right before i get my clutch replaced!

I taught her years ago on a leased vehicle, because leases are barely a step up from a rental car. But she's forgotten since then. "Why wont you teach me again?" she cries. "Because I own this one" i respond.

If she learns to handle the OEM clutch feel, anything else will be cake.

Hi everyone,
I just got my 21 JT back from the shop with a new center force 2 kit. This thing is amazing and can climb a light pole now lol. Overall clutch engagement is super nice. You can feel the hydraulics slave provide feedback on the foot pedal like old school clutches. I can turn corners in 2nd/ 3rd gear and take off zero lugging. The engine even sounds sportier and better balanced revs/ torque. Your not loosing much rpm’s during shifting with the heavier flywheel. Engine revs up perfect and when down shifting to 3rd when driving off the highway exit ramp I barely even have to rev up to 2-2.3k. No longer need to rev match to 3k to downshift.

I have driven up and revered on very inclined hills with zero stalls. The first drive feels little weird because the clutch isn’t necessarily much harder. Your just not used to actually feeling clutch engagement feedback unlike the oem clutch that was either on/ off with the same pedal feel from start to the floor. Do NOT hesitate to purchase this kit. My local shop contacted centers force to confirm all the install specs and how the clutch should behave they were 100% helpful.

My Jeep only had 19k miles with a perfect clutch. Shop noted normal wear but no abuse or heat damage. This recall just gave me an excuse to go ahead and change it. Roughly 6 hours of labor to install. Spent roughly $2800 in parts/ labor. However it was 110% worth it. This is how JT should of come from the factory. Feels like I’m driving a tractor now with all the torque I want. BTW I did go with a single face clutch to have better clutch feedback and keep pedal resistance to a minimum for daily driving.

Hey everyone! I just picked up my Gladiator from the dealer with the ACT clutch installed. On the short drive home, all I can say is WOW what a difference! The pedal has much more feel; you can feel the stronger return on the pedal, and you can actually feel the engagement point! I still have to drive some more to break it in (ACT recommends 300-500 miles of stop and go city driving), but so far I’m very impressed! Now to submit for reimbursement….
