That's a shame. I have intentions of trading my JTR 6MT in on a diesel in 2-3years. I won't be trading for a hybrid. It'll probably be a RAM instead in that case.

7,500lb for the first mile. 4,500 for everything after that.
I looked at the 4xe Wrangler and Grand Cherokee a while back, but I don't think I realized they took premium gas, too. I suspect the Gladiator 4xe would require premium, too. I pay an extra dollar a gallon now for premium over regular. With the 4xe upcharge and need for premium gas, I am not sure it makes sense. The difference would be a lot of money left over for gas towards the Sport S Max Tow or negligibly less tow rated Rubicon or Mojave. Based on our test drive, I agree with you on the initial strong capacity diminishing quickly, as I am not sure how that works as the small battery gets depleted. Then you are towing with a smaller engine and the extra weight of the battery. Other folks arent' convinced the Wrangler/GC towing impact won't blow up their engines. I want to make getting the Gladiator work as it is definitely high on my list.

Here in Idaho, and a lot of other states, you pay higher registration on EVs to make up for the reduction in fuel tax payed at the pump. It makes sense if you drive a lot, but I only drive a few thousand miles per year, so the extra fees are more than I pay in gas tax with a regular vehicle.

Even on short range PHEV's? That doesn't seem fair or make sense.

I'm an all one color person and that black grill don't work for me. Jeez I normally go every two years on getting a new ride. maybe this year I'll go with another Model. where I can have all one color body, fenders, top. and now I have to say grill.

They don't take premium. The 2.0 is happy on 87, but like basically all turbos the computer will advance timing if you feed it premium to wring out literally 2-3% more power. The owners manual for our 4xe says as much

I’m just guessing, but I’d bet the color matched grill is still standard and the black grill is a new option on the 2024 High Altitude model.

I don’t think a 4xe gladiator will sell well in Texas. The dealership I’m using has at least 20 Wrangler 4xe’s on the lot. Just 2 normal Wranglers. The sales manager said that they can’t sell the 4xe’s even with heavy discounts (he tried unsuccessfully to lease me one at $9K below sticker and $7,500 In federal tax credits). He also said that for 2024, the 4xe Wranglers are going to be special order only as Jeep won’t be shipping them any..
I have to agree. There are 107 Wrangler 4XE's available on dealer lots within a 50 mile radius from me with a price tag in the mid $60k range. Taking a spin through dealer sites, there are huge discounts and incentives on these units and there not going anywhere.
Strange, as 4xe accounts for 38% of all Wrangler sales in Q1 2023. Guess they need to paint the HP/Torque increase on the windshield, instead of marketing it as an EV in Texas.

According to my friend who works at Jeep, it sounds like the 2024 Gladiator is already in production.

I drove one for grins and giggles. Still enjoying my diesel.
