Some of us don't have multiple vehicles/trucks. The JT is our primary daily driver, off roader, haulter, tower, and summer convertible. I guess absent an aux tank, carry 4 jerry cans.
I got the impression Pry that you were trying to extend your range while towing. I could see Jerry cans being useful if you were overlanding or traveling in a remote location and there were no gas stations in site, but not for simply having extra fuel so you do not have to stop at a gas station.

I used to have a Jerry can on my CJ. I think the fuel take was eight or ten gallons, so the Jerry gave me an extra five if I was in a remote location.

Takes awhile to unstrap, fuel can, fuel, wipe the fuel off that you spilled on yourself, curse and move on.

I suppose for overlanding one could always take something like this if they needed more fuel

I agree. Drove mine with the family from Seattle to Yellowstone and back on a four day weekend. 2000 miles round trip and avreaged 20.9 MPG total running 35" K02's. Last truck was a 2019 Duramax LTZ. No complaint here on comfort.

I Love my JT.
I tow a light travel trailer almost every weekend. We have over 19K miles on the jeep since the middle of June.
The only two issues I have with the tow set up are the mirrors stink. I have been using the suction cup tow mirrors until IU can find a better permanent mirror and the fuel tank.
I average about 10MPG with the trailer so I have to stop for gas every 200 miles. I usually start looking for suitable stations once I hit 130 miles on the tank. So Yeah an aux. tank would be awesome. Or if they offered a larger capacity tank.
My old Ram had a 32 gallon tank, so even though the MPG were the same I could get way further.
Otherwise, I love the truck, The ride is great, my wife and dogs love it.
I tow the trailer to the camp site, set up, remove the roof and doors when weather allows and play in my Jeep!
Best of both worlds.

Yes I'm definitely planning on adding some big rotopax containers. I only get 16mpg now and when I get my camper i'm going to get a lot more fuel. I'm going to install at least 2 on the truck and then maybe like 7 more on the camper.

Just remember that extra fuel changes your towing capacity also. Even a 25 gallons would drop it 200# without containers. My last F350 had a 50 gallon steel tank/ Tank came in at 100# all bu itself.

With the expected MPG of travel trailer towing around 11 - 13MPG, has anyone felt the need to add an auxiliary fuel tank in the bed?
I towed my 24ft TT many miles up and down east coast and I don't see any issue. We are going across country in May. I have 1 rotopax 4 gal just in case I miss a station but otherwise you need to stop, pee and stretch anyway. Although the Jeep is plenty comfortable. I thought about extra fuel in mountains I was burning alot and seemed like kept stopping but otherwise it's sufficient. Plus more fuel more weight

Yours seems to be the overwhelming viewpoint. I overestimate my bladder capacity! I may just stow a jerry can for peace of mind. Mine’s a 22ft TT.

Gitfo , did you find or end up going with an aux tank in the bed ? I have been contemplating the same idea for long offroad excursions. 10 - 4 gallon rotopax wont cut it ...

Everyone uses the bladder excuse.

Yes An aux tank be awesome! Then you can do a3 min rest stop pee break and be back on the road asap with out having to watch for the next gas station that’s75 miles from your last fill cause it’s 250 till the next reliable serve.

I was looking at an aluminum tank20 gal custom made (just a box) to fit the bed.

I get what you are saying. Gladiator is my only tow vehicle. I haven't found one for it yet. Maybe soon someone will make bigger tank

I’d like another 10 gallons of capacity to reduce my need to frequently hunt for good prices on fuel.
