For a fairly extensive explanation of the JL/JT clutch, check out:https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/jt-jl-clutch-and-flywheel-explained-by-act.68758/
Yeah, that guy was great. Why Jeep went with the double disk system seems a mystery to me. I realize that it's tied up with EPA or some other issues, but really? At 11,000 miles with a lot of off-roading on boulders etc. here in NM I haven't had a problem. We'll see what Jeep comes up with and if silly, I'll put a standard disk system in and go to 4.88s. My 73 CJ-5 had a great clutch that I finally replaced at about 100,000 miles in the late 70s although I didn't have a problem.

Was the August 1st 2023 update to the NHTSA from FCA posted here? It has the timeline for replacement, and for us 2021 and 2022 owners it's not great. And it will probably be later than the schedule they're giving NHTSA.

Description of Recall Schedule : **08/01/2023: FCA US will notify dealers and begin notifying owners, in phases, starting with the 2023 model year vehicles on or about 09/19/2023, 10/24/2023 for 2018 model year vehicles, 11/24/2023 for 2019 model year vehicles, 12/05/2023 for 2020 model year vehicles, 01/02/2024 for 2021 model year vehicles, and 01/23/2024 for 2022 model year vehicles.

I like that planned Dealer/Owner notification. So did they know this was what was going to happen in April, and they just didn't tell us? That's nice.

Everyone here knows they've known the fix for ages, and have only recently decided they couldn't devise a cheaper option.

Realize for legal (CYA) reasons they aren't going to admit a "defect". I expect they won't even mention any sort of improvement to the parts, since in court it could ultimately be perceived as fixing a defect.
I am really interested in what the "replacement" is going to test like.

Are you going to be able to get your hands on one?

I don't even know what the new part numbers are. After they start coming out and someone is willing to let me test it, I will gladly share the results.

The way they worded it, makes it sound like they're offering a replacement of the same clutch assembly (I hope I'm wrong).

They also make it sound like they easily reimbursed people who didn't want to wait to make their trucks safe. Which is a bunch of HS.

We all see discrepancies between what is published, what is policy, and what is practiced.

I have yet to see a single report of someone going aftermarket to address this problem and getting a refund from Stellantis NA. I would be thrilled if someone could prove me wrong here, and I'm sure ACTman/Dirk would be as well because once there's a proven path to a reliable clutch I'm betting mine isn't the only business heading his way.

There certainly have been some reported on the "Jeep Clutch Recall" Facebook page, but mostly reports of being denied. The first accepted reimbursement I saw was from an attorney Jeep owner, but I am sure that had nothing to do with it (sarcasm).

Those of us with 2022s will just have to wait until January, which probably means the Spring.

I'm at 55k with none of the 3 recalls done yet. I'm curious to see what the new clutches are like. Hopefully we get some 2018/2019 JL guys giving info here soon.
