No, you won't. I've posted interviews with designers, engineers, and actual real starter people.
these have been in use since 2015, many now have hundreds of thousands of miles on them.
There's no problem.
These are not your grandfather's FoMoCo 4.5" direct drive field coil starter with bronze bushings for bearings and copper commutators (I work on starters, restoration)
These were introduced (with ESS) in 2015 for the 2016 model year. That means they have been on the road for 8 years, starting with Grand Cherokees and others, introduced into Wrangler in about 2018, and now the Gladiator starting in 2019 for the 2020 model year.
There's a long history with them, a lot of miles in many different vehicles- Wrangler, Gladiator, Challenger, Grand Cherokee and more.
No, there won't be starter troubles beyond what is normal for electric devices.
Too much BS "information" out there.
Just sayin' - as a person involved with starters and who has studied the progress of starters over the years, including these.

When I did my full aux battery delete, I just use a start/stop eliminator device that remembers the last switch position so you do not have to reset it every time. Plugs in series with the Security Gateway Module harness.

There is cheaper clone devices on Amazon but I cannot give opinion to the quality of those.

There's a lots of ways around it and they're all simple and easy. The hood pin is another one, but I don't like annoying lights on the display.

Could have, but then you're leaving a hard to get to and unnecessary battery in the mix, and they're know to fail and take the main battery with them when they do. Yeah, yeah, yeah - Internet lore.
I've seen enough accounts of it to not trust it in mine.

I kinda got the same vibe about him when I first landed here.
But over time I've gotten to understand that he's an encyclopedia of automotive knowledge and experience, particularly in the MOPAR genre.
He's also one of those kinds of people who truly likes to help others.
He's wordy because that's his nature and how his brain works.
He rightly makes no assumptions about the knowledge and experience of others, and therefore he tries to explain things in deep detail, so as to not have anything be overlooked or assumed.
He's the kind of fellow who will drive you crazy explaining how to properly install a bolt with exactly the right amount of Loctite and torque on it, but he's also the exact person you want to follow when you're actually doing something that you've never done before and don't want to screw it up.

I did IT work, and people would almost always say, "You're so smart! I could never understand all of this stuff."
I'd answer with, "I have no chance of being able to do your job. I have no idea what any of this means or how it works in your day to day. I'm no smarter than anyone. I just know what I know."

And for the record, I agree that starters are electromechanical devices, and that they can and will fail with usage, and every start is one taken off of their finite lifespan.

Have they been engineered to outlive most vehicles and their average ownership?
Maybe, but they will eventually fail from wear.

So in that regard, I agree, and besides, I loathe ESS. it IS STUPID! ?

That's the thing about it.
I'm in aerospace manufacturing engineering.
I work with people for methods and solutions all day every day.
I work with people who were not even born when I started in the business.
If I assume they know something they don't and give the quick answer it can go over their head and they will not have the knowledge to do the task they are given and the results can be catastrophic.
I have had people get offended when I ask them if they know how to do something but I'm not afraid of them getting mad at me because I know how to handle their ego.
Humility is key. Now matter how good we think we are there is always somebody out there better.
I am in a constant training and learning environment even for myself and will be until the day I die.
I do appreciate Bill and others for their willingness to take the time to give out the information that they do.
I need all I can get.

Most of us regulars here know where Bill is coming from and why he is the way he is.

That being said, his delivery sometimes can come off being abrasive and condescending on face value for those new and not in the loop even though that is not his intention. It's understandable when some lose their cool over it.

Short answer - yes, to power the electronics and HVAC during an ESS stop event.

It gets longer, though, because that battery adds capacity during an ESS stop event - otherwise all load goes to the main/crank battery when stopped.
During an Ess stop, some things still come from the main battery, but it's minimized and the voltage monitored and it will restart if the crank battery gets too low.

I have a whole lot to learn, especially about the humility part, but otherwise, too.
What I appreciate is all of the folks who put up with me and my severe ADHD personality - yes, I'm on the very top of the spectrum (and it's a spectrum disorder). There is no social filter. I've been pulled off all meds due to some goofy heart stuff going on.
So I've told a few friends - reach out and slap me if I get totally out of control.

I got that all the time when I was network security administrator "how did you know to do that" or "how did you know that would happen". Well, experiences, perceptual reasoning, and sometimes in IT you have to think like the villain in order to thwart them.
My problem is I know, but can't properly convey what I know. I was great at algebra until it came time to "show my work" on tests. Sorry, can't do that, I just know the answer.

When I worked IT for government- I told my boss I didn't want any further promotions and had no desire for his office. I think he was grooming me for the next step up and even a transfer to central IT where they made the big bucks and made policy. I said no thanks - just can't do that sort of work, I'm no good at it and I do not like management. Been there, didn't do a good job at all, and admit it.
There's also a reason I only went so far in electronics - I found my limits and backed away.
There's a lot of stuff I defer to @Hootbro for - those are big shoes and I could never even dream of getting to his level with the thing's he's into.
I know basic chemistry, even do zinc plating in my shop and have to know enough - but could I ever be a decent chemist? LOL - @#$ no. I still refer to my books for some things.
Believe me - there's people here I look up to - so far up I get dizzy thinking about it.

My goal - learn something new every day (or more than just something) - the day that stops, likely so has my heart.

More forum time lately because I can't walk out to my shop I'm literally so dizzy, I don't think I could stay upright all 200+ feet. Then when out there, I can see myself falling into some equipment or getting a bath in my plating stuff ranging from a pH of 1.2 to 11.5 Sitting is a chore, so my apologies for being more annoying more often than normal. Doctors? LOL.

Anyway, sorry, I've included some friends (although we've never met) and trusted folks on why I'm an ass at times. And I try - but it's truly a different wiring I find has been passed down. Anyone curious, take it to PM
