I have to ask... If the 3.6 is a solid reliable motor, the 8 speed is an amazing transmission, and the 4.10 gears are solid for the Rubicon models especially....why do we want more power? I know I know...I'll take it....but why does every brand chase the power numbers? Imagine going back to my old CJ-7 and being offered THIS power train.... I'd take it in a second. I loved that 258 straight six...and very simple to work on.... But the AMC 20 rear end was weak, it was slower than dirt and we have improved things greatly. So yes...we already have more. But I'm also a Toyota fan. And one thing I like is they never chase everyone else. They improve, but stick to what works. The new Tundra doesn't have the highest payload, towing HP or tq in it's class. But it's solid. So why do we need to win that way with everyone? It doesn't translate to their vehicle being more capable than ours. Throw on 35s or very easily throw on 37s with our Lockers and where do they win? Wow, more power....ok, so do Ferraris and other cars. But they can't go where we go. And, it's pretty darn reliable.

With all that said I hope they're waiting on the hurricane motor to thoroughly test it before they put it into their flagship vehicles. After all, it's the wranglers and gladiators that go off into the unknown and want reliability. I'd love it if they kept the diesel and made it more reliable and fixed the problems. But here we are.

I'm a happy customer willing to wait for slow and steady and reliable improvements.
The pentastar has plenty of power. The problem is the RPMs required to get to that power. My diesel has all the power off idle

Wonder if Gladiator will have a new hybrid setup or same as the current 4xe.
Since it says the wrangler 4xe is getting refreshed too, I'd say it's a new setup. There's seems to be a lot of issues with the current 4xe battery and in the heavier gladiator it probably couldn't get the range they needed

No one can disagree with that, but oil and natural gas extraction leave a horrible mess as well. And then they pollute the air after the fact. Nothing is perfect, but at least electric propulsion doesn’t pollute while the vehicles are running.
I agree with that aspect of electric vehicles. But all the pollution it takes to make one vechicle is a different story and how long does it take for an electric vehicle to overcome the fossil fuels use? In order to make it carbon neutral?

Prevailing theory is 100K miles

The airline industry is highly subsidized by the U S Government I really don’t want the auto industry to go down the same path.

Also, a commonality I see with the anti-EV crowd is, they assume that our current EV/battery technology is what we are stuck with. Case in point, referencing that article from four years ago. To me, thats like someone in 1903 assuming that the two-seat Wright Flyer is as far as they’d get with aircraft tech. We all know how far aviation advanced in a short amount of time, since that stick and fabric Wright Flyer first took flight.

It's a little late for that. The US auto industry has been heavily subsidized by the government for 100+ years now lol

I agree my point is I don’t want our federal government completely controlling rail road, airlines and automotive industries.

The result will be like the Trabant built by the East Germans.

When Ford announced how much money they were losing on the production of Electric Vehicles I had to lol… they didn’t lose money they passed the loss onto us, the consumer.

I said before & I’ll say it again “I don’t care what kind of car you drive or how it is powered I just don’t want to pay for it”.

True, I'm tired of paying for people to drive US made autos while the government actively blocks all the competition that would bring the awesome diesel powered trucks and SUVs everyone else gets.

The airlines were a lot more subsidized before deregulation in 1978. While I agree, it was due time for deregulation, I wont argue that the govt played a big part in getting the national airspace system set up and building the thousands of airports that we still have. We have the greatest air transportation system in the world(mostly thanks to senator Mccarran, who the “woke” crowd deemed a racist and tore his name from Las Vegas airport but thats another story).

Wonder what that Pentastar Upgrade will be.
We already have the Pentastar Upgrade or "PUG" engines in our JT's. Was launched with the 2016 Grand Cherokee and put in the JL and our JT. Included revised heads with high/low 2 speed VVT valvetrain and a revised EGR. Also came with extensive redesign of the lower block for weight reduction. They are continuing this through 2028, not necessarily they are upgrading it further.

I wouldn’t “buy into the hybrid” unless you work from home and/or drive less than 35 miles/day as current technology stands. I have a 4xe Sahara parked next to my gladiator in the garage. It’s great for dropping kids at school and stopping at grocery store. I wouldn’t take it from Stowe Vermont to Moab

Has anyone realized batteries for a solar powered backup system on your home are only good for +\- 5 years? There is no long term value in this technology.
