So I'm supposed to have a free trial of Sirius Guarding with my new 2023 Sport, but after over a month, I seem to have no account and the dealer hasn't been able to help.

But it was never even made clear to me... just what does the app do? I understand the Assist and SOS functions, neither of which I care about. My base Sport doesn't have power door locks so it can't do that, I don't know if it can do remote start (nice to have but probably not worth the monthly fee after the trial expires), and I can keep track of my own maintenance without my phone sending me notifications. So is it even worth bothering with?

SiriusXM Guardian is a subscription service. It is separate from the Jeep app. It is required to make the remote functions operate. If your vehicle has remote functions that require a Guardian subscription, the dealer should have setup an account using your email address when the vehicle was purchased.

The remote functions available from the Jeep website and the Jeep app are Remote Start, Door Lock and Unlock, and Horn honk. The vehicle has to have been ordered with the option and has to have a cellular equipped head unit and Guardian subscription to use the remote features.

The dealer was supposed to set me up, but they couldn't get it to work and said it probably hasn't gone through yet, try again tomorrow. That was over a month ago. When I enter my VIN into the Jeep app, it tells me it can't be added, call this number... which goes to Sirius, which tells me the app isn't separate from Guardian. And Sirius tells me there's no account for my VIN, but I'm welcome to pay for one...

If I push the Assist button per the setup instructions, it tries to call, over and over again, unsuccessfully, even though I'm in an area with good cell service.

I do IT stuff so I can buy Jeep stuff.
I know it sucks to feel ripped off for not getting the 1 year of free trial ... but if it makes you feel any better I didn't feel like it was worth renewing after my trial. I did like the remote lock/unlock and remote start via my phone ... but either one was only as reliable as cell coverage wherever I was parked and not worth the ~$15 a month for the paid service. Now if I could just get them to stop emailing about signing up for paid service....

What does your Window sticker show?

Does it show the Remote Start option?

What head unit does it show? What head unit is installed?

Does it says SiriusXM trial subscription or SiriusXM Guardian trial subscription? If you are actually supposed to have a Guardian subscription, then your VIN should have been in the system and the dealer should have been able to setup an account for you.

Without a cellular equipped head unit, there is no way for the Guardian Service to communicate with your truck.

There is no account for your VIN because the dealer didn't set it up. If the system won't let the dealer setup an account, then your truck is not in the system as being cellular equipped.

There is either some serious misunderstanding going on, by multiple parties, or some mistakes have been made in the production of your truck.

If you don't have Remote Start, power windows, power door locks, and a cellular head unit, then Guardian will not work.

If it helps any. I let mine lapse last summer. Later this month I am going to renew. Why? I like starting from my phone in the office to let it warm up for a bit - especially since my 'commute' home is only 2 minutes. Literally 2 minutes, so I need warmup time to be better on the engine, and I dont want to sit in the parking lot for 15 minutes. Also, it can help with stolen vehicle recovery - something happening more and more. Plus, if I park in town and go into the store, it will alert me if the alarm goes off.

Yes - I'm paranoid. But the people you see these days walking around Missoula, are pretty darn sketch. Dont want to take any chances, especially with as much as these things cost and knowing insurance will NEVER give you anywhere near close to what you actually put into the vehicle.

Sounds like your situation is only going to be resolved by talking with sirius/guardian. A few other members here had some issues when switching to a new vehicle and trying to get Sirius to understand they sold the previous vehicle and bought a new one. Crazy to me it's so darn hard for them to understand that and just make the appropriate changes - but apparently it's that difficult. Hopefully you can get through to someone who can resolve it!

Wasn’t providing any benefit for our household other than a couple of party tricks. And for us that SiriusXM crap isn’t worth a bother either; if you want commercial free then use the family subscription of Spotify with downloaded playlists; never was a fan of their marketing/sales practices either.

both of my jeeps, the dealer set it up while I was in the dealership signing papers. Had to go through the whole downloading app, creating a mopar account or whatever, they do stuff on their end, register the VIN with the service, the vehicle pops up in the app eventually and then we test.

If it's tied to the SOS function, it may be worth it to some people but I don't need remote start from my phone so it's nothing I'm interested in long term.

It now seems to be activated. I suspect the dealer simply forgot, though they didn't admit it.

Though when I say "activated" that doesn't mean it's working. On the same page on mopar.com, it says it's activated, and that it's not activated.

The free trial is worth every penny. After that nope.
I agree. The also kept calling me after it expired to get me to re-up. even discounting it heavily like $60 for another 3 months still didn't take it. I will admit the real pain was when it expired the frigging message popped up on my display for months with a select here to cancel but it doesn't give you enough time to select it even if you are hovering over the screen ready to hit cancel. and teh blutooth call, lame.

I reupped it for $10/mo because I like to be able to turn on the heat, heated seats and steering wheel before I got out of work but then they got rid of the uconnect app and gave us the crummy Jeep App that doesn’t do any of that so no it’s not worth it anymore

The app can't do the remote stuff? Is that why I can't find it? Are the remote commands only available through mopar.com?

That's cheap. The cheapest option I see now is 15/mo and that doesn't include the guardian (which to me is the whole point).

But wait...you cant adjust the seats? What about remote start? Or seeing the vehicle health reports? Is any of that on the new app?

if not it is a total waste
