true, but i'd call this sale under false pretenses. which is illegal and suable in court.
In this particular case, there is legal recourse, if that path is chosen. They sold an add-on that doesn't exist, and documented it.

Ok, well the sales manager seemed sorry enough. He was irritated and actually knows how dangerous it could have been. So we shall see what he comes up with.

He also said he would talk about this situation in his sales meeting tomorrow.
If he truly understands, they will be very accommodating. You have documentation that should provide any lawyer with a winning case.

Max Tow:

Tow:

Class IV
240a alt
850w fan
Trailer Hitch Zoom

This dealer's "Max Tow":

Class IV

Assholes. They also said it would tow 7650 the way they delivered it.

No, I purchased it on December 28 and they said they never received the due bill and that they had to order parts so it would be two weeks, then two weeks went by and well long story short, I just had it done February 5, so I didn't know what I didn't know.
When someone gets something over on me, I realize I should have known better and move on, but it seriously pisses me off when I hear about situations like this. If the sales manager does not make this right, I’d definitely talk with a lawyer. It looks like you have paperwork to back up your side of the argument, so I’d push back as hard as needed to get something done. Depending on advice from a lawyer, you might see if any of your local TV stations run consumer complaints segments. Bad publicity, even the threat of it, will usually get attention quickly. There is no reason to settle for less than you want.

Agreed - I totally am in the corner of the OP here. I get it - first time Gladiator buyer, likely smart as heck in other areas, can't be expert at all things.......... but was smart enough to seek out some more information.
They get a full break from me just because they came forward and asked and indicated they were learning and taking it all in.

I had a college professor (back when our tablets were made of stone, chisels were our stylus) who told us as he was handing out one of our first tests in his classes -
You get NO credit if you leave an answer spot blank or toss in a guess that's out in left field,
You get full credit for a correct answer.
You get half credit if you don't know or are uncertain - but can demonstrate where you would find the answer, know where to look or ask.

In this case - they didn't have the answer, but knew where to look - so some credit is due, IMO.
Worse - a place where you should be able to place some trust, at least some trust, drug things out and totally mislead.

Thank you very much! I am smart in other areas!

I am looking at options, not sure I will be able to afford this one, but the other dealer said they are looking for used gladiators so I'm checking it out. this doesn't match the sticker above. Is it a max tow?

"Max Tow" with the highest-available 7650-lb tow rating is ONLY available as a option on Gladiator Sport and Sport S trims. So by definition, that Rubicon cannot be Max Tow.

It does have the "Tow" package (6000 lbs rating? IIRC) but not "Max Tow." It's really a shame that Jeep made this so confusing

Ok that's what I thought. Thank you very much. 6000 is better than 4000! Is the turbo helpful during towing?

Ah, I missed that it's a diesel. I have a diesel Rubicon myself. I'm not a towing expert, so I'll let others speak more to what it's like to tow heavy with it

But 442 lb-ft of torque, up from 260 in the 3.6 gas motor, helps in a lot of situations. The drawback is that you can't make that much more torque without making more heat, and with the small front grille on the Wrangler and Gladiator, there's a limit to how fast you can remove that heat. It's not uncommon for diesel Gladiators while towing up long, hot inclines to "de-rate" (ie turn down the power output and limit itself to 45mph) to manage that heat.

The exact same 3rd-gen 3.0 EcoDiesel engine in a full-size Ram truck gets a tow rating up to 12,560 lbs - because the giant front grill and radiator can handle it much better (maybe some fraction from longer wheelbase, heavier rear springs, etc too).

"Max Tow Package with 4.10 Axle Ratio"

Yes, that's the actual factory-equipped max tow package.

There are a lot of other differences between Sports and Rubicons though, aside from the obvious prices. The off-roading features of the Rubicon were essentials for me. Might be wise to take a breath, and make sure you've done the research and are certain what you want aside from tow rating before jumping in? Just IMHO.

That is a very fair statement. While I do go off road, it's not nearly to the extent most if not all of you do :) I would do beginner things with it - not the Rubicon or anything.

So far this new dealer sounds more like all of you :)
