LOL. Go spend some time finding the very Bluetooth trail cam you speak of, mount it in the cab somewhere and post some photos and *show us how it is easier.

If I wanted it to be easier, I would not have spent all this time documenting the process and try sharing it with people.

I will never understand people like you.

Just wondering what the real motive behind the question is.

Let me ask you these. Do you own Jeep? Why? Why put big tires? Wouldn't it be cheaper to drive a Prius? Or cheaper to walk and ride public transit? Why buy a house? Why get married? Why have kids? Wouldn't it be easier not doing anything? Why do you even live?

Very well. See if you can connect the dots. Its the concept that matters.

Seems a lot easier

it all depends on what you want.
i was checking out that camera you linked to and it didn’t show the resolution. Do you happen to know what it is?
it also has an internal battery that has to be recharged separately.
If that works for you that is good for you but one that has constant power from the vehicle would sure suit me better.

I have this one
GreenYi 5G 720P HD Car License Plate Rear/Front View Reverse Camera
It’s a 720p resolution that attaches to the front or back of the vehicle and is hardwired for power supply.
I have an iPad mini mounted on my dash for the monitor.
This works but it is no comparison to the factory 1080p camera that is fully integrated to the Gladiator camera system.
If you’re into doing mod projects on your vehicle there is also the satisfaction of building the system yourself that some people have and is a big incentive for a project like this.
I also enjoy doing the upgrades myself but went with the quick and cheap option so that I could have some kind of trail camera until I can get the time to do a project like these guys are doing.
Iā€˜m finding a lot of information and interest just in reading what they’re doing.

See if you can connect the dots. My questions were rhetorical.

I will be blunt so it is easier to understand.

Do yourself a favor. Keep underachieving in your life but don't drag other people down to your level.

Get your own thread and keep this post clean. If this writeup isn't meant for you, move on. I didn't write for you or no one need your input how and if YOU don't like it. No one is interested in your underachieving Google search query that you slapped together in 2 mins. They look like generic cheap made in China product that does not integrate with Jeep's steering input with less than 1080 resolution. I don't really get how you are comparing OEM solutions to these and calling it a lot easier. If you feel that is the best way to go, go do you. Don't mind me.

LOL Is it jealousy, envy, or do you feel challenged to generate negative, hostile, useless comments like this? Do you behave this way in real life?

You want to be rude, fine, that was not my intention at all. On planet earth in the year 2024 there must be a simpler and more efficient solution for a trail cam than Page 1 of this post.

LOL. Now you are the victim and I am being rude. WTF.

Done taking you seriously as I feel like you are 14 or have reading comprehension level of 14.

Mods, can you delete this guy's comment and my replies. I feel like they are not needed at all.

Whoa, this thread went way off its intended purpose of helping others. Guess I won’t start my thread of my trail cam install and show how easy it can be if all people want to do is provide stupid theories and not have a technical discussion. This mod is getting easier and easier to accomplish because of people like @DailyDrivenTJ, @ecidiego, and @Jimmy07 who used their ingenuity and engineering understanding to help others. At the very least you start to understand how and why are vehicles work the way they do after reading their threads.
Yikes, that's a ton of work and expense for a mediocre camera on the front. I'd put all that money into a custom 360 degree surround camera system with under-chassis view.
1080HD camera is hardly mediocre. Seems you know exactly how are vehicles work so I’m excited you joined this post. You’re right the CVPM ā€œtheoreticallyā€ allows for a 360 camera. All you have to do is somehow mod the side mirrors with appropriately designed and mounted cameras (plug them into the CVPM), make sure they are quick disconnect so you can still takeoff the doors, then code it. I’m interested in this mod, please post your progress!

You don't use that app. You need to use AlfaOBD with the MX+ if you're talking about setting all of the trailcam params.

Yeah I’m an idiot….apparently I actually need to understand what I read ?….should have known there’s yet another thing I need to purchase to complete this.

Special thanks to to the true geniuses that led this mod:
@ecidiego
@Jimmy07
@DailyDrivenTJ

What I did different:
1. Found a way around the firewall (much easier)
2. Mounted CVPM under center console using JL Center Console...definitely worthwhile

The only thing I'm not proud of is my power source. It works but I think I can do better so if anyone out there knows how to access the xy401A harness located against the firewall forward of the right dash speaker let me know. The other option would be to somehow install the power source into fuse box (like from the factory) but that involves taking apart the fuse box to access under the fuses/motherboard which is out of my league without guidance.

Hope this PDF below helps...

68456244AA Hose #2: intermediate hose washer hose between Hose 1 to the pump.

someone indicated this front washer hose includes a filter, but wonder if the item in line on this hose is an anti siphon valve.
with that in mind - for you folks who have done the trail cam/washer install, do you think the front washer nozzle could be used / modified to install in the rear cam housing to allow rear cam cleaning? There is a kit available for this for ~$100 - more expensive than the small list of OEM parts If they would work.

If I remember correctly the front washer nozzle is square with a small cutout to ensure it only goes in the proper way. Is it doable, yes, but I’m not sure without messing with it how to make it a clean install like the one offered on that link with a round 5/16 cutout which is much easier.

I looked into this and tried to find alternative solution with not much luck. You need pretty small and low profile nozzle for it to be mounted on the camera assembly and NOT appear in the line of sight.

Good point - staying out of the line of sight is a valid concern.

Figured I would update this thread. As of last week, I found that I occasionally lose the active tire track overlay on reverse and whenever this happens, I also lose the TrailCam that I cannot access the TrailCam at all. When this happens, I cannot access backup cam from the onscreen menu either. Only putting in gear will solve this issue.

So far it feels it happens at random and in the morning of it would work fine then it would stop working for the basically whole day.

Not sure if this is wiring issue or software issue..

Good thing my CVPM is under the seat so it is not hard to get to but I am wondering if anyone had any issues like this.
