There's a lot of slang and acronyms, these things happen.

I run an ACT Promass clutch clutch, but havnt towed with it yet. It does reverse way nicer than factory though. My driveway is a hill, so I back up it everyday. Big difference from OEM.
Well that might be my next upgrade then when this clutch goes out. Much appreciated.

Cool! I haven't. How much do you think that'll run?
Depends on the shop and the area. Even then I’d call them and ask for quote to be sure. If I had to guess, 1500-3000 for install. Could be as cheap as 650 tho.

Well it's more than I thought but it would be worth it so I'll put off some other stuff. Thanks man!

Hey all. I’ll admit I haven’t read all 176 pages so if this was already addressed I apologize.

I ordered an ACT JP6-HDSS. In the time it took me to research the problem and solution, and find a local shop that I felt I could trust, the guy retired and the shop closed its doors. Of course. Now the only place somewhat local to me is an AAMCO.

Are AAMCOs legit or are they the White Castle of the automotive repair world? They Don't exactly scream “dependable, local, specialists”.

Mike, No clue about AAMCO as far as installing an off road clutch---I took my Centerforce to a 4 wheel drive shop and it works fantastic now but even they had issues bleeding it properly.

In my opinion AAMCO can afford a bad review in regard to installing a clutch for a 4 wheel drive Jeep as 96% of their work is on automatics for the road. But a 4 wheel drive off road shop will likely have much more experience and absolutely can't afford a bad review---the owner called me multiple times to assure me they were going to do whatever required to make it work---and ultimately got it properly bled---an issue with the Centerforce Dual Clutch installation.

It will cost more perhaps but they'll get it right.

Good advice. Thank you.

AAMCO never struck me as the type of place to do customer supplied parts and labor only work.

In the past i posted about the ACT JP6 upgrade with promass flywheel, which has been an incredible improvement over stock for the past 30k miles. I posted a few weeks back in the JL group about shifting issues in 1st and Reverse. I isolated the issue to a bad slave cylinder. If you’re having issues, it could be related to a hydraulic part or air in the line. I haven’t had any gear lockout issues in 600miles since install. Here’s my “how to” for replacement and bleeding.

We bought a 2018 Colorado 6 spd for my son's first vehicle. I shifts fine, but it just reminds me that the Gladiators manual is the smoothest most positive engagement manual I have ever felt. Even the sensation I get from just the feeling of rowing the gears is enjoyable.

Replaced ours at 9k miles with the centerforce kit, then updated the throw-out bearing at 25k miles to the internal (Ford) style. Now the clutch has great feel, and release. The factory dual disc is garbage, and the thermal limit is a band aid for a junk system. 5.13's help a ton on the peaky power output of the 3.6

I have over 100k on my manual with the OEM style clutch, still holds great even with the Magnuson SC, and have raced it in Baja. I have a hard time calling it Junk. I do laugh at how light it feels, but there's a reason for a dual mass set up with respect to engine vibration loads. I am disapointed that their only solution was a thermal limit, that I agree is garbage.

Just had mine on my JL replaced in the recall at 99k miles. It was fine. I loved it and never had an issue with it. I have driven it over 100 miles now in mixed driving and It feels great. In my mind, I think it feels marginally better than before. The way it grabs is superior.

The dealer´s technician did a superb job on the installation, too. I told them I had a Tazer programmer and they ran the proper software update for that. No lights, warnings, or errors.

Thanks for this video, looks to be so much easier than my last Super Duty F250 hydraulic unit. New clutch slave delivered today, it's going in on Friday. About 91k on the original slave unit, only 15k on the new clutch from the clutch recall.
