I too am hoping for a shorter bed, just long enough to fit snowboards/skis and the back half of my mt. bike (the front wheel hangs over the tailgate). That said I am not super hopeful. I think the length of the test mules is fairly accurate and I don't think they had extra stuff under there to mess with us, I hope I'm wrong.

You guys think that is an actual photo of the JT under a sheet? I bet that is computer generated as well. Also I find that in every picture of the test mules when you get the picture angle that shows the side and the front it looks like the bed is shorter. If you get a straight side shot it looks really long. I think the reveal sheet is half front, half side shot which always looks shorter in the bed.

Those of us worried about departure and break over angles, I think we just start budgeting for a lift, big tires, and extra rear protection. Skid plates and bumpers, that will all help with geometry, a$$ drag, and high center concerns.

Nope, not at all. No rear side airbags is a deal breaker for me because I have little kids that will constantly be in the back.
Yeah Ive got a 4 and 2 year old, I'd like rear side airbags too.

I don't know about anyone else, but a tire carrier bumper would be on my list.

It depends on how it interacts with the tailgate.... but yes, i like the prospect.

Not trying to be a smarta55, but unless you are broadsided by a semi-truck, I'm not sure the rear side air bags are really protecting much in a Jeep...

You are already sitting up higher than most other vehicles, so what's the bag to protect from?

Case in point: My brother was broadsided in our CJ-7 years ago. The CJ had no lift and stock tires. Other car bent the Jeep's side nerf bar. My brother unbuckled, stepped out, and walked across the hood of the car that hit him.

Me thinks someone just doesn't want you getting a Jeep... :(

I'll still get one if it doesn't have rear side airbags, but other than weight, I don't see a drawback to having them. Extra protection.

If they’re not available, a good set of custom rock sliders welded to the frame could mitigate side impact.
Very true. The kids will be riding in my vehicle 2% of the time so it's not a deal breaker.

Ask Colorado ZR2 owners why side airbags can be a drawback. :cwl:

I swear I saw one on the 10 in LA around sunset yesterday. All white. Looked like a lifted JL from the front but was definitely a 4d pickup. Awesome gate, very retro, reminded me of a late 60s Bronco gate. Didn’t look like someone had modded a JLU because the gate was so specific and I don’t know why anyone would do that with the JT coming out soon. I could be wrong with what I thought I saw but maybe it’s somehow in town for the car show early or doing some test runs? Guess we’ll know if anyone else spots a white one? It was dope.

I seriously doubt FCA has any running around without camo yet - it’s more likely that you saw a brute or maybe custom like this one:

Yeah I was thinking it would be pretty crazy for them to be driving out in the open in LA like that. You’re probably right, it looked a lot like a white version of that black one. The gate said Jeep on the left side, all white just raised letters. It was going west & I was east on the 10 so not much time to get more details.
