With how Ram sales have been tanking, it's not a huge surprise. A shame, too - I like the Ram trucks and if I actually needed a full-size truck with more capability than the JT - Ram would be a consideration.

I truly hope they get things turned around and pull out of this - it's a lot more than Jeep and Ram trucks in play. But then - I've always sort of had a soft spot for underdogs.

Looked at a 3/4 ton Ram. Couldn’t get comfortable and it was a Laramie. Can anyone explain why you can get a tilt/telescopic steering wheel in a 1/2 ton Ram but only a tilt wheel in a 3/4 or 1 ton Ram?

i worked at a Ford dealership when they did their first "Family Pricing for Everyone" pitch (i think) over a decade ago.

Ford operates on an A, Z, D, X plan system. A for corpos, Z for corpo retirees, D for dealership employees and X was for just the generic "i work for a company that has some connection with Ford" pricing. Including people who worked for companies that Ford advertised with.

X plan was $200 below invoice in my day. Light research says today it's 0.4% below invoice plus $275, which isn't that far off from -200.

You know what pricing my dealership gave out in their internet department to get people in the door? invoice for mustangs, 200 below invoice for most models, 300 below invoice for slow sellers.

For reference: D plan (i bought a few cars this way) was 2.5% below invoice. A and Z plan was D plan minus $100.

I bought my gladiator in 2022 when there were no rebates for 3% below invoice, at a time when many people without tread lightly or financing were getting 6% below.

"Employee pricing" is a gimmick back then and it remains so today.

You can do better than employe pricing. My father in law retired from GM and gets employee pricing for family. I got him to get me pricing on a 2023 Silverado at a particular dealership. Was $4500 below sticker price. I went there in August 2023 and bought the truck for $8000 below sticker.

We also bought my wife’s new 2023 diesel gladiator for $12,000 below sticker in October of 2023.

I guess my point is y can negotiate for better than employee pricing.

The current RAM HD's are just reskinned 4th Gen RAM's. None of the 4th Gen RAM's either 1500 or HD had telescopic steering. Speculation on my part, but I bet RAM does not want to have invest in a telescopic steering wheel due to having it needing to be crash tested certified for it and will put one in whenever they roll out a true 5th Gen RAM HD that has already been kicked down the road a few years.

The current 2019+ new body style RAM 1500's are the 5th Gen and they have the telescopic steering option.

The HD Rams. 3 gen used a 4 link front with leaf spring rear on a 140" wheelbase. The 4 gen still use the same suspension on a 149" wheelbase with a new body. The 4.5 gen got the coil spring rear.
