Survivalists favor Pre-1975 (The "Old School" Choice) carbureted 1960s-70s Jeep trucks with mechanical ignition systems with distributors instead of capacitive discharge ignitions, no stinkin' ECM or BCM computers, and external voltage regulators, making them resistant to EMPs and easy to repair with basic tools.

For you youngsters out there,
a distributor... never mind.

Actually, I do receive an actual discount for zero accidents, zero tickets and so many safe driving classes that I could teach them. But it works. Perhaps not for some, but for me, it has benefits.

In addition, the accidents I now see as a first responder are more related to cell phone use and drugs rather than alcohol. It all matters..
My fiance used to have one of those safe driving things in her car. I always ruined it when I drove it so she finally got rid of it when she got a new car. I’d never voluntarily have something like that in my car. She never had a good score anyway because she has to drive to Atlanta 3 days a week and just keeping up with Atlanta traffic ruins your score. So does braking hard and accelerating hard. You have to do all of that in Atlanta traffic if you want to not wreck or be able to merge. It’s super dangerous to go the speed limit around here. You’ll get rear ended or run off the road and no one lets you over to change lanes and traffic is a constant 0-90-0.

I have a 1931 Model a if nothing else will run and they can run on just about any fuel. I’m not a survivalist, but it would be handy to have in a situation like that.

Check your inbox.
There will probably be a phone number or (more likely) an Ai "agent" you must chat with and submit details for the "emergency".
Washington State DOL or DMV just got in trouble because whomever they contracted the work out to used "AI" to automate CS calls and for the Spanish option, the AI agent was just English with a heavy Spanish accent.

:CWL:

And people wonder why I left that state.

My company offered me one also and as soon as I found out what it tracks it went into the trash.

I would bet that many of the cars and trucks of the 40s through the 60s would qualify.
Any gas engine that uses points and a condenser, or a magneto. Diesel that uses a machincal fuel pump and injectors.
