I sent some e-mails and did some digging. The latest word from FCA is that "factory ordering for the trailer brake controller is late Q4/early Q1".

So, we're looking at Christmas or perhaps after the new year before the factory unit becomes available, on the current schedule, assuming no further delays.

Thanks for the info. I've been waiting on that stupid thing so I can place an order. I don't know that I can wait until next year.

Anyone ever figure out if it will be simple plug and play install? I've seen mention of needing a flash but never was able to confirm. If it's plug and play I'll just wait until I actually have to tow something with brakes on it before I worry about it and get to ordering ASAP.

E-Trailer has a harness they claim is plug n play for several brake controller models. I'm thinking that's the route I'm going to go but haven't decided 100% yet.

Cool dog.
Grimes, so you are on the NW side of the metro, your dealership could be Granger or Stew Hansen - unless you drive a bit.
My dad when he was alive had his Jeep serviced at Granger - and I bought a Ford truck there in 95 and was beyond pleased.

I digress - thanks for the brake controller info - still on the fence - order the original type or another.
I just want to be sure I can push a button or move a lever to apply trailer brakes manually and that the controller senses momentum.

Granger - Internet & IT Director, could not do the Corporate lifestyle of the Garff Group

Appears that it is at SEMA as well so I have looked at the ones that have it per the pictures here and it looks similar to the aftermarket ones being installed..

I am just waiting for factory then I do not have any of the "issues" with the wiring and compatibility to my Jeep...

I realize that there are others on the board that are all about "making" it work but with today's integrated wiring (my Ford OCD) has extended itself to FCA while visiting with the service techs on the Chrysler side...

No clue if it's an actual photo of the kit or just a stock image but https://www.jeeppartsoverstock.com/p/Jeep__/WIRING-PK-TRAILER-TOW/78328409/82215652.html has the below image. I don't see the control knob though so I'm guessing it's a stock photo.
Jeep Gladiator Factory Trailer Brake Controller releases ...EDIT: STILL WAITING {filename}

That appears to be a full wire harness which wouldn't fall under plug & play in my book. I was hoping to already have the wiring in the truck and just pop the controller in.

That is the incorrect picture from the FCA parts site there is no picture just coming soon...

And you will not find it until December as I posted...

They will then have it available for all to order...

My parts guy has little information on it...I just told the forum that I would keep it posted on updates as I find them...

My misunderstanding. Googling Jeep and the part number brings up distributors offering them for sale so I was confised
