I'll delete it if it makes you
Why did you feel the need to start a new thread with the same title as an existing and hugely popular thread? BTW, I like the post just prefer you would have used a different subject/title or posted it in the other thread...

https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/what-did-you-do-to-your-gladi

I'll delete it if it makes you feel better.......I figured it would get sent to that thread.....sorry I'm new to the forum, and not very good with the computer

How did you end up mounting the rear camera? I have the same setup and am trying to figure out where to put the rear cam and still have the option to remove the hard top.
i just ran across the Vector Offroad track that mounts under the sport bar with the speaker screws. Looked like a good option to mount a rear-facing cam with the top on or off.

I just used a camera with an external rear camera. Mounted it above the license plate and has clearance when the tailgate is open. My camera is hardwired so it’s watching even when parked.

Mine fits pretty snug and has help me weather two thunderstorms. The Jeep logo looks pretty cool. It fits behind the backseat.

Have you attempted to put it on with just the freedom panels off or with the top off and doors on? Thats where I am hearing of fitment issues. From what I heard it really only fits and works well with the entire top and doors off. That is usually how I run in summer but I would like to be covered for all scenarios.

I would say for any of these type covers your best case scenario at this point is having the freedom panels in place in heavy rain, even if they're just sitting there. Otherwise any temporary soft cover is going to tend to pool water in heavy rain. I haven't seen them yet for JLs or JTs, but previous Wrangler models I've owned had aftermarket bows available that created a small dome with the tops. Those were pretty effective at keeping the water from pooling.

For now, even with the Rain Gear cover, which I 100% recommend, if I'm out for the day and the weather is iffy, I've got my freedom panels in their bag, in the bed along with the Rain Gear cover. If I see a storm is coming, I find a place to stop, throw the panels on, then throw the rain gear cover on. The other benefit, in my opinion, to the cab covers is for security purposes. Yes, it's a keep the honest people honest thing, because it's easy to defeat, but it keeps prying eyes out if I need to leave the Jeep unattended in a parking lot or overnight.

I have the Jeep version and the guy up the street has the Rain Gear version. I cant speak to all scenarios yet, but his does seem to fit better.

I chose to buy the Jeep one because I wanted to enjoy my Jeep and not wait until I could get my hands on a Rain Gear. If I waited, my top would still not be off for the first time since we have had so much rain. Thats why I jumped in. If I get my hands on a better one I may switch, but when I weigh fitment vs fun, fun wins every time.

Thanks, I don't ever carry my freedom panels with me. If they are off they stay home. Takes up to much space to bring them along and my bed is often in use. Like I had mentioned I have yet to ever run with just the freedom panels off BUT I don't want to be limited by my rain protection gear.

I agree, anything without a bow is going to pool.

As for now, if it rains....it rains. The Jeep handles it like a champ.

Thanks, it's good to hear a side by side comparison. Yeah, I don't have either yet. I ordered the Mopar one from my dealer 3 weeks ago and it never showed up (or hasn't yet). I spoke to the Rain Gear folks and am hoping to get my hands on one from them next week...but we will see. They are having a hard time getting their hands on material due to Covid.

I run no top no doors all summer, so as for now.....if it rains....we just deal.

I keep the bag under the back seat - and we may be out and about - hey, let's open up - and we stop and take the panels off and stow them in the bag in the back. OOPS! This is Iowa, another popcorn storm, stop, quickly put the panels back on and carry on, carry forward.
You don't leave home with panels off and sitting in the garage around here. Meteorologists too often on the evening news say "oops, didn't see that one coming". We live in what the meteorologists call one of the most difficult areas to predict in the nation (aside from parts of Alaska, for example)
Yesterday - sunny, a few clouds, 0% chance of rain predicted by all local stations. I was working in the garage cleaning up, decided to move the truck out for some space, as I'm pulling out what the heck? RAIN!. Then 10 minutes later, it's gone. It wasn't even mentioned in the later news. Just our area.
About a month ago I told my wife "hey, it's raining!" She said - no, it's not. (she was on the north side of the house, in the front room, I was in the kitchen on the south side)
Yes, look, it's really coming down. She again - no it's not! The driveway is dry!
I ran to the front room, what the heck? The driveway is dry - she thought I was pranking her and ran to the kitchen window to see a nice steady rain coming down, and the drive in front of my shop 200' to the south, wet.

I was working during the second thunderstorm. When I came out I had about a quart of water on the top of the cover. I was just happy the inside stayed dry. I have not tried it with doors or top on. My guess is it would not fit as it is pretty snug with no top. I have a full J-Top so.tgat may of been what helped my water pooling issues. If I get a chance this week I will try the cover with various top formations. It does have adjustments.

Ha-ha, too funny. I have the storage boxes under my rear seats. 99% of the time my kids are with me and I have cargo in the bed. I wouldn't have room to bring them along or if I did they would be in the way. We get similar situations here (Green Bay) this time of year. Its not uncommon to see pop up showers daily but our news folks cover the basis and just always say 5-10% chance of rain. I have only been caught out 3 times this summer so far. Once it was heavy - but I was able to get under a canopy within a few minutes. The other few times it was light and nothing really made it to the interior unless we were at a stop.
