Well it only took about 20 years for jeep to catch up with what the users are doing. A 392 with 4.88's on 35's sounds like some serious trail fun but the options are gonna add up quick, you are deep into TREX and Raptor territory.

Most of the fun with a Jeep is the mods you do yourself to make it your own. 35s stock is nice, keeps you from needing to sell yours cheap. And the more appropriate gear ratio is a plus. Unless they add the V8, I'm wondering how many folks with nearly 6 figures to spend on a Jeep will instead opt to get a sport and just spend another 50k upgrading the axles, gears, tires, etc.

So I wonder if there are still those holding out hope for, or even insisting (one poster in particular) that Jeep will eventually do a 2 door Gladiator?

392: Only Wrangler and Rubicon thus far. Obviously to counter Bronco. No direct competitor for the JT yet.

4xe: Only Wrangler thus far. Only Sahara, High Altitude and Rubicon. No direct competitor for the JT yet.

Xtreme Recon: Only Wrangler thus far. Only Rubicon and 392. No direct competitor for the JT yet.

I wonder if Jeep will hold back this package on the Gladiator until they see if/ how badly a Bronco pickup beats their breakover and departure.

I think the only chance of a 2 door is if Ford does the unexpected and offers one. Jeep seems to be holding things back unless and until they face a competitor.
Jeep is stingy with gears.
Jeep is stingy with lockers, have to opt for a top trim level to get them out of the factory. My JT is a dog with the 3.73 gears & 6 speed when I’m loaded for camping & have two kayaks on top.
Jeep treats these options like they are made out of gold!
Now there is competition & all of the sudden bigger tires, better gear ratios, and even an eight cylinder are now available, but only for the wrangler, because there is no direct competition to the Gladiator!
If Jeep drags their ass on getting this to the JT I’ll be the first reservation holder for a Bronco Pickup if it ever materializes! Don’t wait for the competition to arrive, give it to us now.
Tomorrow will be toooo late!

Where is the people whining you can't run 35s with the HEMI in stock axles on the wrangler? though the tire seems on the lighter side

Too bad this was only to one up Ford on "Best in class" claims with very specific configurations.

Jeep must think that few people will actually end up getting the Sasquatch pkg on lower trims.
This is why I'm convinced the Bronco caught Jeep with their pants down. This is classic misdirection.

Ford announces the Bronco? Jeep announces Hemi wrangler special edition the day before. Ford begins shipping the Bronco? Jeep announces Rubicon with some bolt-ons and new gears to try to steal some of the press.

Jeep is scared and I love it. They could have done things to improve years ago but now that Ford put them on the defensive and forced their hand, they're going to have to make real progress to keep the title. Can't wait to see if Toyota steps back into the market and either way, this is going to be great for the consumer.

Me!
A 2 Dr JT with an extra cab fold down jump seats facing inward would be my choice as ideal backup for when you pickup a short term hiker etc and want to stay legal.

I'd love one too.

But my question is now that seeing how Jeep has responded to Bronco, do you hold out real hope a 2 door would ever be made without a future 2 door Bronco pickup?

Wrangler is getting the goods because it's facing competition. So far, Jeep has withheld from the JT, which has no direct competitor. Closest might be ZR2, but of course, no removable top and doors.

No I don't see it ever happening though a 2 Dr JT with the bed offered as a retro Scrambler package WOULD sell I'm sure.

Who makes a "true" 35" tire? most 315/70/17s measure the same as the same brands 35x12.5x17s, it is just a different way of saying the same size.
Interco Super Swamper 35x10.5r17s are true to size as are a number of their tires...I measured them at 35.2" ;-)

I hear ya. Here I am looking at maybe moving to a Willy's diesel .... but then I read this thread and Im like wait...I have 35's and 4.56 and WTF am I thinking, LOL. I will say since I have had the 4.56's added that I truly believe all gladiators should have come stock with this gearing.
The biggest reason they wouldn’t is cafe numbers. Unless that magically improves performance to the point mpg is similar

Ya... but how much is it?

$3995, just saw it. Not as bad as I thought really. Wonder if you can get that with the 4xe...
