Do any of you elites know whether or not there is a way to tell if a given Jeep has already gone through the clutch recall? I bought a 2020 JT, and I'm not certain whether or not this has been done.

Is there a VIN search or something? I'd really love to have a way of knowing whether the recall has been performed other than the clutch assploding.

Do you have a gear indicator on the dash? If you do it's had the 2nd recall for sure. A dealer should be able to tell you about the first recall.

Enter your VIN

https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

If you have registered with the MOPAR owners site, you can check your dashboard for any open recalls also against your vehicle VIN.

A little later than I was hoping for, but finally replaced the fluids and new sealant for the leaky trans plug.

Does feel nicer with some new fluid in it tho and up to proper fill again.

Hi AUAlum2000,
You can use the links @Hootbro has provided. Our mopar recall resource link is the following: https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls/search.html.

Just posted my unboxing. Gotta find shop time for the install.
thanks for remembering to let me know. It was the most interesting cardboard box opening I have ever watched. Let me know when you have information on how it performs.

I joined in early 2020 - never saw this thread till now. About to join the Centerforce clutch club. Just got pics and shipping info. So excited.

JTR Sparty, I have been dwelling on your announcement of this Centerforce clutch since you first posted it. It really looks great.

I was talking with a Jeep mechanic (independent, not with dealership) about this type of thing and what his shop would charge me to install it. He said he was familiar with Centerforce and had heard good things, but had actually installed a ton of South Bend Clutches in Jeeps in last few years. He suggested I look at them, too.

Did you consider them or do you have any input on what they can provide??

thanks,

I did consider south bend but all I saw was another dual clutch /dual mass flywheel (complicated) clutch and I was looking to go to heavier flywheel, a gripper clutch to simplify and improve offroad and towing. My Centerforce clutch is in and I’m breaking it in now. So far it’s great - it engages lower in the pedal travel and more positive. I can backup without throttle. Once the break in is done I’ll find some time to do the 20degree hill test and offroad test to report back. Here is the stock clutch in a 20degree hill at idle for the before video.

Thank you for the quick response and feedback. That is helpful to me and makes sense. I was hoping you were intending to do an updated video on the 20 degree climb once broke in. Centerforce has a video (which I'm sure you've seen) that shows the before and after of their clutch in a JK. It is pretty dramatic.

Some pics of the stock clutch in case anyone is interested. It’s LUK brand.

You know what?

You mentioning the SB clutch was also dual mass - I didn't know the JT has a DMFW, but now the stalling in your video makes *perfect* sense!

I work for an OEM as a "tuner" (powertrain calibration) and I know that we have an algorithm that will kill ignition to the engine in case the RPM goes below a certain point. Even if the engine will run there, we don't want it to because too low of an RPM can excite the dual mass flywheel and damage it.

Hopefully, the heavier solid flywheel will keep you out of this area, but if you do still stall - I wonder if @DAVECS1 can look into the MT trans cals and see if this is something that can be changed.

Looking forward to the next video! ?

I wonder if that stall point is what was modified in the latest manual trans TSB?
