Any Way to Reduce Wind Noise?

Have you been able to pinpoint the area(s) that it's the loudest?

I live in central Oklahoma and know exactly the wind you're talking about. Even with my old 2013 JKU Sport with the cheap soft top and base stereo (as well as being lifted on knobby mud tires), I never felt like what you're experiencing. The only thing that was exhausting about driving it on our interstates and turnpikes was the upper body workout from trying to stay inside my lane, especially with crosswinds. It's often windy here and we usually don't have *only* straightline winds. It's always high winds with even higher gusts. Made it difficult and tiring at times to drive, but never had issues like what you're experiencing.

I failed to mention my JT has a Rebel Offroad rack on the back. During the trip, the rack was empty, but I'm wondering if it might have been causing a lot of noise in the cross winds.

I pulled the trigger on HotHead with the sound assassin and side panels. Basically the full package. Very noticeable difference in cabin noise. It reduced the wind noise significantly. I've seen others evaluate the noise and temp and agree with their measured findings. I can use the 8.4 system comfortably at much lower volume and still get good detail (but the system itself can use a lot of improvement). I am impressed with how quiet it is, and the headliners really do make a noticeable difference in cab temp. No regrets on that purchase and highly recommended.

IDK if this will help. Wife had a 2017 JKU with wind noise. Dealer had techs and the body shop work on with no success. They finally got the water leak "guy" to look at it. He had a stethoscope with a long tube. He found the leak. The body had not been formed correctly around the "bottom" of the pass front door. He had the body shop rebend it so door sealed against it. I would've bet my last dollar it was coming from the top left windshield area. The wind noise are hard to find in Jeep he said. After you could carry on a conversation at 75 MPH. Good Luck.

Not to belittle the issue of road or wind noise, but prior to my Gladiator my daily driver was a 1995 Wrangler YJ, soft top. Been drivin' that Jeep (and still do) since 1995. Now talk about wind noise! I likened it to driving in a tent. Then the first time I test drove the JT, OMG, seriously you could actually have a conversation without straining to hear what the other person was saying. You could actually hear the music without having to crank the volume to max. So honestly I don't see what the fuss is about, it's a Jeep and unless it's a Cherokee, Wagoneer, Commander, Patriot, Liberty or Renegade, it's not gonna be a smooth quiet ride, but compared to Jeeps of old, especially soft tops or no tops, the JT, as well as the JK, JL are very cushy and comfy in comparison.

I got the Boom mats, but from my research all of the headliners reduce the wind sounds about the same. The biggest noise difference I found was changing to a better tire tread for the road. From Faulken Wildpeaks to Yoko Go15's. Finally, noise cancelling ear buds really can save you on a long trip. They still allow the real sounds through but get rid of all the white noises.

I feel your pain. I bought my Gladiator as a d.d. company car - needed the 4wd capability and a lot of other choices are/were not available.

However, Overall, I've been pretty happy with my choice. And some of the Jeep engineering aimed at the aftermarket should DEFINITELY be studied by other car manufacturers...

...but. The wind noise, amiright?!? Unacceptable compared to my previous d.d., a 2018 Mustang GT CONVERTIBLE !!! I have very sensitive hearing, and on long drives between DFW/Houston,Austin,SA the wind noise could eventually feel exhausting.

I only share this to say I know where you are coming from.

My (partial) solution;

So, I used Raptor liner on the bottom of the freedom tops, in addition to hotheads headliner with the dynamat "sound assasin"

Is it a perfect solution? No. But it's much quieter inside the cabin. I made sure my tops are sealing properly and no noise results from poor fitting panels. I would say that the biggest source of noise seems to now be the windshield. I'm not sure there's a way to minimize, but I'm continuing to look for solutions.

I still have to use my headphones for work calls. But a trip to San Antonio didn't wear me out, aurally. And I don't have to crank the Music or News to listen comfortably.

An unexpected/added benefit is running the A/C at a lower setting for the same temps.

It did not. I was very careful to mask off the areas that come into contact with weather-stripping/door seals. I painted those with a black automotive enamel that matched Raptor liner fairly close. I'll try to add some pics later today.

The Mopar deflector has little effect on bugs, and didn’t make any difference whatsoever on noise.

Yeah, I found that out today. I have a Mopar bug deflector...but it doesn't seem to deflect bugs away from my windshield.

I bought my Mojave Monday and drove 5 hours from Tennessee to St Louis on Monday, 4 hours from St. Louis to Kansas City on Tuesday and 8.5 hours from Kansas City to Denver. Never once was it too loud to be obnoxious nor could I not enjoy music. In fact I found my music at around 12 was more than adequate volume to hear it perfectly with the windows up. I drove all day Monday, Tuesday and most of Wednesday with my windows down, all 4 and even that wasn’t loud enough to make music unenjoyable at 16.

I read this last week before we even left to pick the car up. We often joked about how unbearably loud it was on the way home. Something is wrong with your Jeep because mine is quiet.

As a follow-up, I have recently driven my Gladiator at 75 MPH and above in Colorado and the wind noise was minimal. I think it was a situation where the wind through Kansas was just really strong last September and the direction happened to make it worse.

I did a 5,000 cross country road trip with my soft top and 35s. The soft top was ROUGH. I had to put towels where it meets the windshield to cut down on buffeting. It immediately made me want a hard top with a headliner.

Just a quick tip:

I’m 10 months into ownership and just found that a noticeable portion of the wind noise can be suppressed by hitting the air recycle button for your AC. In other words, a lot of the wind noise comes through the vents I noticed. This helped me a ton on my 1,000 mile trip to and from Fort Morgan, AL.

I’ll eventually get the Hot Head Headliners too.

The wind noise has been manageable on mine with hard top and factory headliner. The only thing that gets on my nerves so far is a whistling sound that starts around 50 if there is no wind and around 40 if there is and I've been able to drown it out with music. Best I can tell its coming from one of the top corners of the windshield.
