Am I the only one who thinks Jeep should’ve included an in dash CD player?

Wife and I had a "listening room" in the attic till about 4 years ago. Choice between Boston Acoustics A series, 1960's vintage Sansui and some base model B&W's speakers. Throw on a record, a couple of adult beverages and bring out the tree's. Was a lot of fun, no phones, no TV, just talking an music. Like rally listening to music!

…sure maybe a fair percentage of people have moved on from holding media in their own hands, but I’m telling you that I like my cd’s on road trips and I‘d bet dollars to donuts that I’m not the only guy who bought one and then spent a second or few looking for the cd player to only realize it was GONE! I‘ll note that I am actually a somewhat techy guy and I’ve had music on my phones, but after past issues, I just like to keep it simple. Oh, and if it was a waterproof thing, then Jeep could have just put a slick little flip up and down rubber door on.
What say you?
No

I still have my turntable. 180g vinyl is the shit. Building back my nice system. Ex wife took that in the divorce. Didn't want house or dog...but she took the stereo.

Sirius works for me. I'd love to have a hard drive with all my songs on there tucked away.
I know Sirius is compressed to hell... But I get a good signal on trails in the mountains.
Frankly the volume I'd need to have decent sound quality with my top and doors off would be substantial. Hell at highway speeds I don't hear much at all.

Records played by a laser beam.

…since you’ll probably ask, a record looks like a flat dinner plate, but it makes musical sounds when played on a record player.

I have hundreds of cd’s but don’t want any of them in my vehicle. I am happily rid of cases tucked in arm rests and glove boxes or the zippered case to keep an assortment in. My ears aren’t what they used to be so audio quality is not something I notice much when driving. Bluetooth works great for me.

I remember CDs fondly. In the 90s. The day I was able to rip everything to proper storage and sell off the CDs to some sucker who thought they'd be around "forever"....priceless.

I like CDs too and would love to have the option of playing them. My Sierra doesn't have a DC player either. I think the future is here.

unlimited phone data is moot in the middle of nowhere.

The Apple music service allows unlimited local storage also, and I assume the others do? I have around 20GB of saved stuff. When I add something to one of my favorites lists, it's downloaded for off-road availability. Much easier than buying/carrying a CD.

Or at least one in the center console like my Ram had...I have all my CD's backed up so I just copied them to a thumb drive and listen the way, which is another minor complaint, the location of either USB port (dash or center console) is not ideal for having a thumb drive inserted in it all the time.

I think there's a CD holder built into the models that have the buggy whip holder, and 8-track adapter.

I practically skipped over the whole CD thing. Went straight from crap-ton of single album cassettes to a plugged in 80G iPod and now Apple Music and car-play. No, I don’t want to turn back time on this. Now, if I could get the old 2 lever transfer case, THAT’S another story! ?

Yep that works about 95% of the time with most services. Whatever reason Tidal gets pissy and refuses to work without data at times.

Also before you make fun of me, Sprint gave it to me for free. Holding it till they take it away, lol.
