Hard to find another diesel engine manufacturer that specs an SN (gasoline) rated engine oil. Most spec a CK (diesel rated). Diesel rated engine oils have additive packages for the higher pressures exerted on the piston, rings and liners.

Seems odd to change oil spec between Gen2 and Gen3 engines. The hardware technology is the same.

There is a difference between the engines. The pistons are not the same and I believe the liner of the cylinders as well. There are changes all in all. But I also wonder why not use the diesel spec oil. Diesel oils should be better overall. I know many that use diesel oil in their gasoline cars for the additive package

Yup, I've used Rotella 15w40 in numerous gas engines that called for 10w30, 10w40, 20w50, 30w, 40w, etc. So far, 30+ years of doing so, I've not had any engine failures.

Have one more "complimentary" oil change & tire rotation with the Geep hay y'all program. After that, I'm not likely to be worrying much about any ms-12991 rating. Rotella T6 multi-vehicle 5w30 could be a great alternative.

Yea it’s sucks to even go outside and lift my hood lol. I would genuinely prefer to do this process myself but I feel like I’ll end up paying to have it done I’ll still take pics and post up my results. Be a bit before my test runs result in any usable data

So I’m sure some of you are aware that I’m working on installing an insane diesel bypass filter. Here is one more reason to go this route. It requires a gen two filter. I just picked up the gen two filter for 6 dollars…. Yea 6 bucks.
Any more information on this... were can I go to learn about it ? Thanks

Incidentally, Chrysler/Jeep/Ram is also leading the industry in voiding warranty for non-compliance with recommended service schedules. There have been a few articles on it in the last month…
Warning - soap box moment follows:

Pretty soon some crack pot dealership is going to be voiding warranties because we changed our oil too often and not exactly at the recommended intervals -- there by introducing unnecessary air into the engine that caused the ECU to get out of sync that caused the S/S to fail, causing the windshield wipers to operate at 99.9% of optimal speed, causing the rear window to leak and therefore they will not replace your hard top, or any other part on your Gladiator under warranty from now on.

Did they all miss that day in english class when the teacher went over the difference between what "recommended" and "required" was? I remember that day.

Yup, gotta cut back on the caffeine. It is now safe to return to your normally scheduled program.

Yeah…I did the same thing. Today, 2 days later I get an email indicating they’re back ordered with no date of availability noted…. Update…projected date of availability is 3-1-22

That's like what is the difference between "shall and may"? You may issue. You shall issue.
