So it was a couple of days ago when my friend purchased his Mojave JT. ( maybe he did it cuz I wouldn’t stop bothering him to do so ? ). Where I live there are a plenty of places to go off roading but it is mostly sand.
The rubicon has been doing well but we all know the suspension is not meant for the dunes or at least that’s what I believe.
So we went to the dunes yesterday to test the Mojave and I was very very impressed in its handling. It can definitely absorb the bumps. MUCH MUCH better than my rubicon. It even wanted to jump lol. We activated the rear locker in 4H in both and the JTs were owning the place haha. But I wish I had that suspension in mine

So I was wondering if you guys have had any experience at modifying the suspension for the dunes. I have everything stock besides the bed cover, 35s AT.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

My jeep also never overheated. It was 95 degrees outsource and we were pushing both of them. My trans peak temperature was 213 and oil was 218. The Mojaves temperature was always cooler between 180-192.

It looks to me from OP's pictures, he did not have a lift on his JT at the moment he posted this and my have had the infamous bottoming out in the diesel.

I don't think I can keep up with a Mojave, but FWIW my Mopar lift feels awesome off-road even at speed. In the dunes it's awesome too, you just need to be careful in the super soft stuff because the diesel is heavy and it takes a second for that torque to kick in, if you're not careful you'll start to sink before the tires start to spin and you'll just end up digging a hole for yourself.

Hey Billy,

i ended up going with the 2 inch mopar lift, core 4x4 level 1 and the 3.0 fox shocks. The shocks made a tremendous difference. I have taken the jeep up to 65mph and i have been definitely off the ground and it doesnt bottom out hard at all. I will get in a near future the front hydraulic bumpstops for sure.

The ride can get a little rough even at the softest settings in the 3.0s but i think they are a must for the diesel since it is heavier in the front. I got the 3.0 fox shocks at polyperformance for around 4500 including shipping and tax free.

Nice. Too bad Jeep won't do a Mojave Diesel. My JTRD is on a train, in transit somewhere. Can't wait. Bought a set of take-off Mojave shocks for it. Have been told they work well on the diesel. Although I'm disappointed they are the same length and travel as the OEM Rubi shocks. By the time I add the AEV front bumper & winch, a Leitner rack & CVT Mt Hood roofy, I'll need heavier spring rates and might send the fox shocks for tuning. All part of the build process. Also have Mojave wheels with 35" KO2s waiting and ready! Again, can't wait!

It is for sure the best cost effective. I had a good contract at the time i purchased my 3.0 shocks so i didnt care much about that money. Yeah get some good springs and for sure get the hydraulic bump stops ( if the budget allows ) they WILL MAKE a difference. The stock rubicon shocks are complete GARBAGE no doubt. You wont ever regret getting the diesel instead of a mojave.

The Pentastar was never in consideration. I'll get hydro bump stops and better springs. Gonna leave the suspension completely stock for the first month. Probably add air bags in the rear for the weight of my gear.
