Depends on the equipment. My Mojave is only 1002 lbs
Surprisingly the rock rails were heavier than I anticipated when I took mine off. Caught me off guard. I guess I was more expecting the old TJ Rubicon rock rail which was paper thin.Depends on the equipment.
The Mojave X will always be a lot lower because of the steel bumpers and the rock rails. Those things weigh a lot.
The more I think about it, the more I realize - if I replaced the Mojave X rock rails with my power steps, there might not be much change in payload. I think the power steps are something like 70 pounds per side tops. Those rock rails the MX comes with can't be much lighter if any.Surprisingly the rock rails were heavier than I anticipated when I took mine off. Caught me off guard. No, it's the fact that each has a bit different payload based on the weight of the vehicle (and options).Mines a chunker. I wonder if the ‘25s lost some payload? Lowest I’ve seen yet lol it came with factory spray in liner and a bed cover so I’d assume that was factored in.

It's too bad they won't mold the hood out of aluminum but it's just a parts bin hood from the 392 WranglerNo, it's the fact that each has a bit different payload based on the weight of the vehicle (and options).
My 2020 had 100 pounds more than my 2022 has.
The Mojave is a heavy Gladiator - the hood, the shocks, etc. - it all adds weight to the vehicle itself.
You can't say "all Mojave will have xxxxx payload" - you can't say "all Sport will have the same payload". It depends. It's not necessarily based on model year unless some changes made the thing heavier. They don't "lose payload".
A Mojave X I was looking at was under 900 pounds for payload - the rock rails, steel bumper, power seats and heavy hood all caused that.
Exactly, I wish the hood was aluminum. For a vehicle that’s targeted at “desert running” you’d think there would have been a focus on removing weight……..you know, since weight and soft sand aren’t really all that compatible. It's too bad they won't mold the hood out of aluminum but it's just a parts bin hood from the 392 Wrangler
Considering the rubicon is a purpose designed Jeep, that's depressing?Rubi is 1136 very depressing
Tell that to the vehicles our military uses in the Middle East, and to the Jeep Club of Israel. (sand and rocks, and some of their club videos show them sailing nicely through the sand, zipping around like it was nothing).you know, since weight and soft sand aren’t really all that compatible.
Thinking about it - how much weight difference would there really be? The aluminum hood also has some steel structure to it, so the difference would be the weight of the steel skin vs. the weight of the aluminum skin - it's not going to make a huge difference on the payload on these. It's too bad they won't mold the hood out of aluminum but it's just a parts bin hood from the 392 Wrangler
I’m not saying it won’t work, just that it’s not ideal.Considering the rubicon is a purpose designed Jeep, that's depressing?
You bought the wrong truck if you were looking for great payload.

These aren't designed and marketed for payload capacity.
If you want that, go get a Sport S with max tow. (or I hear Ford makes some really nice trucks for hauling heavy stuff)
Even then, payload will depend on the equipment you put on it, or factory options.
so what equipment did they add to my Willys to reduce my payload from the advertised 1700 to the actual 961?Depends on the equipment.

gotta ditch the hard top man.Bought a Mojave knowing payload was low....all research online indicated 1200lbs. Then I look at my door:

Ack! I need those 114 extra lbs. Haha. I have a pretty low optioned Mojave so it isn't the option sheet that's weighing me down. Is this lower than other people's door jamb stickers? Once I put the 3 kids, wife, Diamondback HD, and BedRug on the truck....can I still pack up a 12 pack of beer?
Time to lose weight and increase my gear carrying ability.....
I know the number isn't a razor's edge or anything, just didn't know it was so variable from what every review says and even Jeep's own spec sheet... 1200lbs. Nearly a 10% reduction.
