Drove up to Tahoe from SF to visit @Free2roam and it went into limp mode 4x!! While I was up at the lake 6k elevation I was going up the North Star hill and it went into limp mode again. The dash lights up as stability control, service electronic throttle control, and start/stop unavailable service start/stop system. Any ideas on whats causing it?

TIA

Set your dash to display our oil temperature and drive accordingly.

Something as minuscule as a shorted out wire can cause the entire dash to light up and trigger limp mode. Giant guessing game for anyone to help you without scanning for codes.

You need to read the codes. Good chance its P00AF, which is related to turbo temps getting high and heat soaking the wastegate actuator. It's usually while towing, but if you're on large tires or heavy with gear it can happen. If thats the issue, reach out to the dealership as its a turbo replacement and covered under the 5yr/100k mile warranty.

What @JTdiRtyD said. Check for codes.
Mine recently did that right at the top of a long uphill grade. Had to cycle the vehicle to get it working again. I need to poke it with a stick more to see if it is the turbo issue and the P00AF code. Just haven't gotten time.

Mine has been doing exactly that since new. I clear all the codes then move on. Often it happens more than once on a long hill in hot weather, like out of Baker towards Vegas in summer.

i originally thought it was the canbus behind the glove box, but now I believe it’s a turbocharger issue. Scheduled a service when I get back from Alaska next month.

It is most likely as stated, the P00AF code related to the turbo actuator. Mine is at the dealer right now awaiting approval. It requires a turbo swap as Stelantis never considered the actuator a consumable item, so they just replace the whole turbo. The cab has to come off, so it is going to be a nightmare. Get a code reader and if it’s P00AF bring it straight to the dealer and don’t clear the codes, helps them out .

What do you mean, the cab has to come off?

To get to the turbo, because of where it is, the standard way, the book way, is to lift the cab off the chassis. That makes the turbo accessible. It is not as bad as it sounds, they use the same lift you would use to lift the whole vehicle in the air to lift the cab off the chassis. Even with all that they should be able to do it in a day or so.

Yeah, don't wait to bring it in like I did. My codes cleared and the chances of it happening again around home are slim, so now I hope it pops again before my warranty runs out.
