There has been a lot of talk about the steering getting loose and Synergy getting bad press for the bearing. I called them and they sent me out a new version for wet, muddy, sandy environments. This version is a sealed design and is better than ever. I cant recommend them enough and I talk to the engineering they have done here in this video.

Looks good. Im trying to get a sector shaft brace onto the Mojave that doesnt involve grinding my coil bucket.

I still think, the sealed roller bearing offered on the Steer Smarts version, is a much better solution....
But there's been claims that the steer-smarts bracket has clearance issues?

Kinda need someone to put the 2 together...

I dont think steer smarts put a lot of thought into the bracket. There is no lateral ribbing on the bracket at the 4 bolts to counter side loading your jeep on hills and beveled embankment. The sealed bearing is a nice touch but since synergy released the sealed system it puts it back into first place. The alignment and fitment is just too good. Steer smarts seemed to have copied a bit of synergy design on the sector shaft billet piece. Just so many things to compare. It looks like they didn't even weld it or gusset much either. I wouldn't bother making a comparison when it's apparent this is going to come down to brand loyalty and the typical market drama. In my opinion.

And yes my spring isolators were orientated properly.

I got the replacement piece from synergy a little bit ago, just haven’t installed it yet. Too cold.

I do give them a TON of credit for standing behind their product though.

I can say though that i think i was having some clearance issues with my synergy brace. When i took it off I noticed it looked like the spring was contacting the brace at some point. I have only done road driving so no idea how the heck it happened. Its had me hesitant to reinstall..

Long story short I got one of these (minus hardware) second hand for next to nothing. I ordered a new hardware kit but have not installed it yet.

@Brfertig, do you think it's worth ordering this new bearing before installing, especially since this is going on a second vehicle?

I was thinking the same thing... that certainly doesn't look like contact from a spring. The spring has way too large of a radius to get into that corner... plus the scratch marks look way too narrow to be rub from a spring.

Yes. In the video I tried to clear up old vs new. Its worth it for where I am.

Had me baffled since nothing else around it had scrapes or wear marks accept the spring. I only had it on for probably 500 miles, all highway. I pulled it after steering got worse and I couldn’t find a knock in the front end. Both problems cleared up once i pulled the brace.

I now know the steering problem was that the pitman arm nut came loose. A design flaw that synergy had since corrected.

Im probably going to reinstall once it gets warmer.

More of a food for thought post for others incase they have or see the same thing.

I know you have had the TSB done on your JT along with this new Synergy design. Did you ever have this kind of fitment issue? Almost seems like the pitman arm is too high on the splined shaft.

I followed the directions to a T and everything worked perfect except the bearing placement on the new nut.
