Wow I’m very pleased to find Jeep one above average! But above 2/3 rds of the rest, including. The only imports being Toyota/Lexus and Mazda, but ahead of the rest. That bodes well for my purchase of a 2024 Gladiator Sport S. That the more I drive the more I love driving it! Extremely comfortable with the manual adjustable cloth seats with drivers lumbar adjustment with heat. The 12.3”UConnect 4G LTE WIFI, touch screen with Apple Car Play is fast and easy to use. While only a 3.6 V6, rated at 285hp, the 8 speed automatic helps put everyone of them down to move easily with traffic in town and highways. The only issue I have is wind noise, oh nothing like my 95 Wrangler rag top and half doors, but for a hardtop? I will need to add the insulation from either MOPAR or aftermarket. Then one other shortcoming would have to be the halogen headlights, fog lights and from DRL/turn signals. That I plan on exchanging them all in just the front to LED’s, with proper aim. As the rest of the lights are all LED in and the rear.

Hmmm. Average isn't awful but it isn't great either. Especially when BMW is ahead of you and stablemate Chrysler is picking up the rear.

My dad's old baseball coach instilled in him and dad into me that average is "the best of the worst and the worst of the best."

if you look at these survey results year over year, you'll notice a WILD amount of variation between years. very few mnfrs even stay in the same area of the chart from year to year. Lexus, Toyota, Porsche generally good; BMW, MB generally average; chrysler, land rover generally bad. Beyond that it's a crapshoot, and i doubt there's actually enough variation from year to year most years to account for that difference. You know what DOES about for that amount of variation? Insufficient sample sizes.

The only thing worth noting in the year-on-year analysis is the massive jump in the industry average from 2021 and prior to 2022 and after. From 120-140ish to 180-190ish (looking at 2015 through 2024).

Don't even get me started on initial quality ratings, those are even more wild from year to year than reliability ratings. Companies literally going form worst to first in a year... yeah, that's not enough time to completely turn around a union workforce....

Its not really above average, its tied with BMW and Dodge at 190, which is exactly “average.”

For the best cars each owner will have one problem, for the middle each owner will have two problems, and for the worst each owner will have three problems. the numbers by themselves are all quite good.

One big problem could be more of a headache than three little things

Don’t know how accurate that is, but if it is, I’ll take it…I thought it would be worse.

Lexus has 135 problems per 100 vehicles and Jeep has 190 per 100. So we are talking 1.35 problems vs 1.90 problems per vehicle? That doesn't seem like a big difference and it doesn't really say all that much. The real thing to know would be how many MAJOR problems one has vs another. It could be 135 engine rebuilds vs 190 complaints about the infotainment system. Severity of the problems is what is important.
