Thanks. I think I will buy a cheap 18" rim and go with a 37X11.50R18 ridge grappler, and shove it under there flat... Then, pump it up with my portable compressor when I need it. My other tires will be 37x12.50R17 tires. I hope I can fit it in between the frame rails tuck it up there nicely.
Thread revival! Its too bad you can only get the Ridge Grappler in 37x11.5 on an 18-inch wheel. I looked at some other brands and almost no one makes a 37x11.5 regardless of wheel size - which again - is too bad - because the narrower tire would actually be better in winter for on-road driving. I'd be happy owning 5 tires all 11.5 in width. They are a little lighter, and of course, the 11.5 width will fit better in the spare location.

Do you think there is any issue putting a spare on the truck that is a different size wheel (an 18-inch wheel vs the other three you have which are 17-inch wheels)? Since all your tires are roughly the same overall height (just shy of 37 inches), it should be fine - right?

I've been trying to find a full size spare solution as well. My method 17x9" with 37x12.50 ridge grapplers won't fit so I will try a smaller 37 mounted on the spare 7.5" rim. BFG KO2's run a tad smaller (36.5"). As luck would have it, I will pick up a used set Monday. The tread is worn down which will be even a tad smaller. Long story short, I'll have 2 extra used KO2's. A buddy is snagging one. I'm near Dallas so if your close I'll hook some one up. Don't really feel like shipping used tires LoL.

Just got Nitto Trail Grappler 37s on mine. It fits in the spare location just barely. It touches the track bar and hitch fully inflated. I was gonna drop it to 20-25 pressure to see if it’s easier.

I got my hands on a used set of 37x12.50x17 BFG KO2’s for cheap. I will attempt to mount on my steely spare 7.5” stock rim. The ko2’s run a tad smaller than other 37’s. I believe 36.5” diameter. With treads worn down a bit (but still some left) it should be barely under 36” which will fit perfectly fully aired up. I will report back. If it works I’ll have 2 extras for some of us. My coworker has spoken for one of the 3 remaining. Let me know if anyone wants one. I’m in DFW. I really don’t want to ship a used tire so if you are local let me know.

Reporting back. Mounted and balanced easily on the spare 7.5” rim. Fits perfectly just clears between the rails with heat shield on and in its original place. I have 2 extra used spares if anyone else wants one.

Thanks for sharing the info. I probably won't buy an extra rim to bother rotating them, but would prefer a same size spare, so knowing that I can mount one on the stock spare is good. Still on the fence between the K02 or the ridge grappler, so far the weight and this info has me leaning to the k02's.

Judging from what I can see with this used ko2, a new one with full thread width should still fit on a stock steely rim up underneath just fine. I do have the Clayton track bar with the bend in it but it looks like a straight track bar would still fit with this setup as well.

Wha doesn't fit? There appears to be several factors at play. I'm about to pull the trigger on what sounds like your same setup and am getting mixed messages about the wheel/tire combo.

Is it hitting the trackbar, and if so, do you have an aftermarket one (and which one)?
Is it hitting the back of the receiver? If so, it appears to stick out a bit more than necessary and was considering grinding away some clearance there.
Is it hitting the heat shield (and if so, would some moderate persuasion with a hammer solve that)?

Anyone know if a 35x12.50 Duratrac aired down would fit with a Rubicon express rear track bar?

I have the Clayton off-road adjustable track bar. It has a bend in it to accommodate large spares. I put a used 37x12.50x17 BFG KO2 on our factory steel spare 7.5” rim. It fits perfectly fully aired up. Shield and all.

Hmm, what is it hitting that prevented the Nitto + 17x9 combo from fitting?

Hitch and heat shield. It sits between two outer rails and up against the cross member rails. I took one of my method 701 9” rims mounted with a nitto and tried a fit test before I bought the spare to test fit. You could squish it in there shifted off center aired down with the bent track bar. That wasn’t good enough for what I was looking for. I wanted it aired up and secure. It soothes my OCD. It’s up underneath and out of sight so I don’t mind that it doesn’t match. For me, It’s hard to justify a matching 250$ rim with a 360$ tire that you can’t see and doesn’t fit very well to begin with. Hope that helps.

Yep thanks - Agree the rim not mattering - and FWIW the tire shouldn't either so maybe I'm overthinking trying to get a matching spare in there at all. Never busted a tire on my old Jeep either...

37x13.5 Cooper Discoverer STT fits aired down to 10 psi. Hoping it’s not too heavy for the spare holder.

I have a new 37 x 12:50 BFG ko2 on the stock steel spare tire wheel and it fits very well fully aired up. It is touching the passenger side frame rail and the inside top of my hitch receiver but does not touch the heat shield on the drivers side. It also does not touch the track bar which (if I am looking at the right thing) is straight. I am wondering if I can run the 37” tire with stock steel wheel without a spacer. I have the Clayton off road 2.5” lift and my BFGs are on fuel off road after market wheels.
