This is what really confused me about the shut off. 3G was at least something. It means my cell phone won't work out in the boonies anymore.
Ah, but AT&T doesn't care about your reception. They want your money, and to reclaim that spectrum. Pure money grab. This is what really confused me about the shut off. 3G was at least something.
22 years since what? Last I checked, it's barely been a decade since major phones primarily used 3G, plus consumer had an expectation of those phones having a lifespan. To make no mention of embedded devices - which is the largest source of people's concerns with 3G being deprecated.Who knew so many people still used or cared about 3G. A kindle? Money grab? It’s been 22 years people.
It was announced. Lol a lifespan? What tinfoil hat looney tune expected their cellphone to last a life span? Seriously?22 years since what? Outside of AT&T wanting to reclaim this spectrum for monetary purposes, can you list another reason they want to deprecate this technology so quickly?
By this logic the World Wide Web should have gone away in 2012? Or, perhaps more correctly, the age of a technology has nothing to do with when it should be deprecated. It was announced. Lol a lifespan? What tinfoil hat looney tune expected their cellphone to last a life span? Seriously?
Did you catch the part about embedded devices? By some estimates millions of embedded devices will cease to work when 3G is shut off. For these devices "faster" isn't as important as range, availability, etc. It’s called evolution. Oh no!! Faster cellphone service! Go back to 3G, Verizon, they’re watching me!
Another reason? Uh yeah. Better cellphone service and faster speeds, pretty simple.
3G utilization is < 1% of all cellular traffic at this point. In fact, the FCC decides when carriers can shutdown technology generations and 2G, GSM, is going to still be operating even when 3G is gone due to international travel implications and some E911 compliance requirements.Outside of AT&T wanting to reclaim this spectrum for monetary purposes, can you list another reason they want to deprecate this technology so quickly?
