I don't buy that it's 100% Mopar parts. From AMW's website (linked in an earlier post), there are several unusual things:
  • Engine Mounting System: Clevite Mounts | Engine Cradle
  • Proprietary Powertrain Calibration: PCM | Remote Tuning Feature
  • Stainless Steel Mandrel Bent 3.5” Exhaust System
  • Powertrain Harness
  • Integrated Body Control Module Tool + Gateway Bypass
  • 241 T-Case Half + Input Shaft
And they specifically mention A/C compressor & lines, high-torque starter, high-output alternator, radiator, and 850-watt cooling fan. May or may not be Mopar stuff.

While unlikely, if something happens to any of these things, you're not going to be able to replace anything without AMW's help.

But AMW seems to be the best in the business, so I'd be they know how to take care of all these things. I'm just saying that if you blow a radiator hose, you're not going to be able to walk in and out of O'Reilly with a new one without help from AMW.
I believe all the engine parts are standard Mopar. Obviously you're integrating a power train to a new vehicle so the ecu would be custom, but I'm sure they either use hp tuners or diablo/superchips/edlebrock so anyone who can write a tune could tune it. Any exhaust shop can rework your exhaust. None of it is proprietary one offs in my opinion aside from maybe the motor mounts but how often are you going through those?

Likely never. I'd bet there's some other custom bracketry involved (like what's holding the PCM in place), but that's never really going to be an issue, either.

I agree with your assessment that the vast majority of it is standard stuff, just repurposed.

I would particularly worry about the harness, and BCM stuff, personally.

If one pukes it's guts, get's frayed, rat eaten... You're not pulling another from the junkyard, if it's proprietary harness, or proprietary programming that makes it work.

How many harnesses have you damaged to the point of replacement? We've been wheeling for 3 decades and I've never had an issue. 200k+ miles on several different Jeeps. Wheeled hard and driven all over. If a rat ate my entire wiring harness I'd be more inclined to file the insurance claim for a total loss in a modern Jeep, but I'm sure you could get the harness from AMW. If I'm rewiring the whole Jeep I'm certainly not looking for junkyard wiring as a shortcut that could easily turn into rewiring it again.

I don’t know that it would total it, but no doubt that custom harness is pretty pricey.

If we are talking the entire wiring harness I'd imagine the labor quote would be astronomical. Granted odds are if you had chafing or even a rodent damage it would be some partial section of harness. Personally at that point I'd probably just splice the damaged wires but that's just me.

I was talking about the modified part of the wiring harness that gets changed with the motor swap. Guessing it’s $2-3k for the cost of that wiring harness.

I’d probably just splice it back together too if I had issues.

Those things were pathetic back in the day. Carol Shelby would put his name on toilet paper if they paid him enough.

5.7 should be the base engine and bring back the Diesel. The 3.6 just "ticks me off"
Literally TICKS then wipes the cam lobes.

Brother-in-law’s Range Rover’s harness got chewed up in his garage by squirrels from hell, on his golf course lot overlooking the clubhouse.

I sold my house in that freakin’ neighborhood. Wildlife loves golf courses.

Same here. I bet most folks have never noticed the tiny(or big) foot prints on the dust covered plastic,
I spray mine once a week in the winter, and the garrage door goes down before dark,
