I am in on this if prices stay where you are thinking. My preference would be wiring to an aux switch.
X2 here. I'd need a simple harness reaching the aux 4 lead near the battery

Option B seems to have won the day. Speaking like others in this thread, it would be nice to have a version with switch controlled red LEDs to serve as rear fog/dust lights. Or even a kit with a red side fog (likely driver) and a white side for reverse. But the wiring might get complicated...

Selectable Bi-color red/white LEDs would be an xtra-nice consideration if not wired directly into the backup light circuit.

This may be a great excuse to install the "aux switches" as I didn't get those, thinking "why, I'd never use such a thing, never have".
I want them 90% to replace or augment my stock backup lights which as as dim as a flashlight with 1 year old AA batteries, IMO. Can't even see the driveway to back in, in bad weather. So I'd want them automatically on when in reverse, but for hooking up a trailer, or unhooking in the dark, would be nice to have them switched as well.

Its not a bad idea but currently the red area is used as a reflector. Making it a red light would require us to change that to a red lens and eliminate (or partially eliminate) the reflection function and would require us to add Red LEDs to the design which would increase cost. Considering most people would not use the Red LEDs not sure if the majority would like to have this option and the additional cost.

Agreed, I already use a strip light for stop/turn signal enhancement. Just need a bright back up option w/reflector.

What I'm looking for is a solution to increase my JT visibility for dusty trails and fog, heavy rain and snow conditions. That location would be ideal. That's probably why the European version have the rear fog lights there... You could have the white light version for the people looking for more light when they backup and a bright red light version for people that are looking for extra visibility in adverse conditions. Just my two cents.

@ShadowsPapa if you have the Homelink this might be of interest if you haven't already seen this.

I have the 3 buttons and use just one of them because I can't park one truck in 3 places at once LOL. So two buttons always sit unused.
It's a solution if it's cheaper.
I'd expect the power capability far exceeds the draw of LEDs in these backup lights.
Has anyone checked the idle draw of that device? I would wonder about that unit taking power in "standby mode" waiting to receive a button command. (I know what was said in that thread and it's not correct)
If it's waiting to get a command from a remote button, it MUST be drawing at least some power, just like a TV or any other remote controlled device. In other words, if you disconnect it from the battery it can't work because it MUST have power to LISTEN for a remote switch signal.
Maybe power it from an acc source to prevent draw while sitting.
Since my truck may sit a week, maybe even 2 or 3, at times, how much draw is there from this when it's in standby listening for a button signal? ANYTHING with remote capability uses power sitting and waiting for a button signal to arrive.
Is it a concern?

I'll have to look into the cost compared to the aux switches.
Simplicity is there for sure and there's plenty of places to connect to for power.
(but I won't mount on top of a battery as I have concerns about the atmosphere on the top of the battery. I'd likely move such a device at least a few inches away.)
